Laura wants to turn the White house into a tex-mex joint
WASHINGTON - Fancy state dinners aren't all the new White House chef will need to do — the Bushes are looking for someone who knows barbecue and other good old American fare.

Laura Bush told Newsweek she doesn't expect that any of the celebrity chefs with books or television shows will be interested in becoming head chef at the presidential home. But she's looking to fill the job with someone who "can really showcase American foods

1. Did anyone see that show on the Food Network...
discussing the White House kitchens, chefs, and the Bushes favourite restaurants in Texas?

It was pure BBQ/TexMex!

5. Yeah, we kept saying "See him? He don't work there no more..."
Bust your ass creating divine masterpieces, and then watch this bunch of Philistines reach for the bottle of imported (from Costa Rica) "Dubya Ketchup" and lay it on...

I'll bet they cheered when they got told they were history.

We like spicy food of all kinds," she said in the magazine's Feb. 28 issue. "We like, obviously, Tex-Mex and barbecue. ... George is a very good eater."

9. Could be...
Of course, when you're on meds that say "May cause Flatulence", that doesn't leave one much room to talk.

"George is a very good eater..." PLEASE, Pickles! Leave the bedroom OUT of this!

6. How can I apply for this job?
I can do barbecue. I can make a mean steak and a hellacious brisket. I make the best baked beans. I can boil hot dogs just the way Georgie likes them like nobody's business, and whip up some serious burgers. Oh, and my potato salad is exceptional.

And the White House already has a kitchen staff--I'd call it a "brigade de cuisine," which is the correct term, except that you're not allowed to use fancified French terms around our illiterate president.

I promise not to damage our appointed leader or any of his guests.

Where do I sign up?

10. God, you know- as a blue collar guy, this kind of shit really bugs me.

When these modern aristocrats try posing as "regular folks", they always end up insulting them with caricature. It's like a fucking Al Jolson act. Bush puts on a fake twang and says "nucular", and all the media whores say people like him because they indentify with his stupidity. Laura eschews french cuisine in public and has doughnuts and barbecue instead. O'Reilly acts like a belligerant, hyper-aggressive baby. And all these things are supposed to help me "identify" with them.

My family was dirt poor when I was growing up, but ignorance and stupidity were frowned upon. There were libraries, and my parents could cook more than barbecued hotdogs. I can't stand these dim-witted millionaires who assume that your tax bracket is directly proportional to your IQ.

12. Sorry, not me.
Don't get me wrong. I strongly disagree with this administrations policies.

But it's always bugged me when any president tries to act like royalty. This doesn't convince me that this is a White House by, of and for the average Joe. But at least it's recognizing a new food type. Frankly I'm surprised its not already part of White House fare.

Plus, I LOVE tex-mex. It would be on the menu if I was there.
