1. If it's cnn, they'll probably tell you how persecuted Gannon is...
being harassed by the internet lynch mob & what not :eyes:

Yeah, the poor prostitute with no journalistic credentials in the White House press room :eyes:

They were defending him this morning. These people have no shame.

2. Yeah...
The spin is in full swing; it never stopped swinging.

The spin gives other MSMedia the excuse they need
not to cover Guckert-Gate.

3. Operation Mockingbird at its best. The "Mighty Wurlitzer" strikes again.
Wartime propaganda is what the DoD/Intelligence community gets paid to do folks. "CNN and PsyOps" by counterpunch.com's Alexander Cockburn back in 2000 kicked the lid off of domestic psyops by the military. Operation Mockingbird, the CIA's domestic media manipulation (taxpayer funded) is ongoing.

Note no congressional oversight or media attention UNTIL bloggers got their hands on this and the HAD to respond. Always ask "Why" when the mainstream corporate media doesn't.

5. And the announcer (It's coming up on Anderson Cooper 360) said and
I quote, Gannongate and I think she said male escort and some other stuff.... it will be interesting nonetheless. Let's see what sort of steel Cooper has....

6. I saw Howie Kurtz talking about it on CNN's Reliable Sources earlier and
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 05:10 PM by glarius
the slant he was pushing seemed to be "how terrible that all those liberal bloggers are digging up this man's private life."....John Aravosis, the guy from Americablog tried to point out that the problem was not his personal life, but that he had gotten clearance into the White House....That didn't seem to matter to Kurtz....:puke:

7. Amazingly we actually know hardly anything about Gannon's
private life.

We're not even sure his real name is James Guckert?

8. I don't see how it can be considered private
when he's posting naked pictures of himself, and proffering his services, all over the internet. That's making it pretty damn public if you ask me.

9. Cooper is NOT live this afternoon...
this depression story is old. i expect the 'gannongate' story will be a repeat (though worth seeing if you missed the original broadcast)

10. Nope, they had John Avarosis on from Americablog just now...
it was damn good, the lady on CNN gave him credit for breaking the story and LEADING THE MSM on it. Good job Mr. Avarosis.

11. I liked Carol's question about 'what does a blogger do now on this story"
since bloggers don't have access to the white house to ask questions... uh, maybe YOU should do that, Carol, being a member of the press and all.

12. Much better coverage and questioning from Carol Lin than I expected
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 06:59 PM by wishlist
Made it clear that it is outrageous that this guy got credentials and so many unanswered questions that the White House will (or ought to) be forced to answer. Other posters here thought Carol Lin seemed dismissive, but I thought she did quite well. Aravosis pointed out main stream reporters have been reluctant to cover this story due to fear of repercussions from WH and loss of access.

13. In cyberspace, no one can hear you scream... in other words,
you don't have to worry about WH access... poor analogy but it's the best I have right now..... yes, Carol did a fine job with John.
