Will Negroponte "sail through" confirmation? (Backfired Dem Strategy?)
Edited on Thu Feb-17-05 10:30 AM by hlthe2b
Are we facing more of the same over and over since our Dems have failed to stand tough on these horrendous Bush* candidates?

It seems that they fear rejecting the Chertoffs, Gonzales, Ashcrofts so much, while holding some perverse view that as long as the nominee is for a position other than the one which we most fear they might hold, that it is best to go for the "best" of two evils? They seem to conclude these monsters can't do much harm (?!) in the Attorney General Office, rather than say, the Supreme Court or whatever.... and thus it is best to just let them slide.

Of course, Negroponte was approved for US ambassador and the Bushies* now know how difficult it will be for Dems to now vote against him, when they sailed him through before. Same if Gonzales is put up (or God Forbid, AsssKKKroft) for Supreme Court.

Damn that they won't fight to the "proverbial" death on these issues. We are so screwed!

I was greatly disappointed..He definitely has blood on his hands..Is he still the Rove of Iraq...Getting Chalmdi elected after he sold secrets to Iran..

2. Alberto Gonzales will be put up for Supreme Court ?-is it an open "secret"
Is Tony Garcia in Florida's AG office the fellow you are referring to?

I believe Alberto Gonzales has a lock on the USSC nomination.

Which I realized after posting and went back to edit. I meant Gonzales.

The speculation about Bush* wanting Gonzales in the Supremes dates back to his first year in office, but some pundits are still pushing the idea, especially since he did get confirmed for AG.

4. Yeah, he will. Gossip in DC for the last week was that Negroponte
would be Bush's choice and that he's not going to have much of a problem getting through his confirmation.
