What did you do to piss off the right today?
I attended a UU (Universal Unitarian) church for the first time. It's a very liberal church and the members included agnostics, Buddhists, pagans, Jews, Catholics, atheists, homosexuals, and people of all different races. The word "liberal" was said more times than I could count. I think I've finally found a new church.

I was at one of those gas stations with a TV inside tuned to FUX news. A guy was standing there watching it and looked disgruntled when they showed Dean and he said "Huh. Dean." I stood there looking with him and said "Ya know, to be honest, he worries me. I mean, have you heard his speeches?" He turned to me and said "Noooo" and I said "Well, he's not afraid to say things other Democrats won't say and that is NOT a good thing for us." I shot a worried look and now he looked worried, too. I walked away to buy my diet Coke. Fortunately I drove off before he could see my bumper stickers which would have blown my cover (I was talking like I was a republican).

Then I FINALLY noticed a lot of reaction today to my "BUSH LIES, PEOPLE DIE" bumper sticker. Lot of shaking heads, angry looks and muttering.

I love it. Hey if their beloved little FUX propaganda won't tell them the truth, I will.

1. I posted a list
of shrub's proposed budget cuts on a freeper dominated board and the freepers are falling all over themselves arguing about them. hee hee They reap what they sow.

The other day, I posted the pix I found here on DU of suggested new hairstyles for condi. The freeps went nuts and blasted me for being disrespectful, etc. Then finally one of them used that magic word petty and I came back with 'oh you mean just as petty as your criticism of Kerry's haircut last summer?' They have made no comments since then. hee hee hee

Which cuts bothered them the most?

(I love freepers eating their own)

EDIT: I meant federal spending cuts, not hair cuts.

5. That is what is funny
they aren't arguing about specific cuts, but about his 'liberal Democrat' spending. Two of them have suggested he totally abolish the Depts of Education and Interior but the rest are all pissed off about him being labeled a librul.

Little do most of these assholes realize the bennies they receive from a lot of the "welfare state."

I hope the cuts really screw them.

50. One of the freepers I used to argue with
is disabled and going to college on grants for low income folks. He has three kids, all on medicaid. And he preaches against govt handouts! He says his situation is different because he worked when he could (he was injured in a car accident which caused his disabilities) and he is just drawing what he paid in. So I asked him if he was going to start sending his SSI check back once he reached the max of what he had donated. He didn't answer. :)

64. Well SSI is an insurance program
The medicaid is a part of welfare, though.

It just galls me how arrogant they are about other people who may be having their own troubles!

Good one about the max payount amount, tho.

91. Typical!!! AAARRGGH! Just typical!
I used to be on that site a fair bit. (Before I woke up and realized that Bush is not only worth supporting, but should be jailed immediately.) You wouldn't believe how many of those "freepers" are collecting some sort of "government benefit"! Oh, and I'm sure we'll see them cheering on Bush's plan to limit access to the courts (Bush calls it "tort reform"), yet those people are constantly calling for someone to "sue" someone.

They're a real bunch of hypocrites.

Also, in the real world, I know a woman who has been getting SSI for about 25 years. She literally lives on it--on that, food stamps, and a small monthly amount from her sister (which is, of course, under the radar). She voted for Bush and aggressively supports him every time the subject of politics comes up. Of course I told her I hoped she wouldn't mind when her SSI check got reduced. Heh.

Identical in format to the standard equipment Bush-Cheney '04 bumpersticker on every Escalade and Mountaineer in BushWorld:

IOW, good old-fashioned AgitProp.

10. I thought I'd visit with some freepers. I was so disgusted i blow up
all over them about 5 times. I pointed out their bullcrap. (I just joined and since I test as a "realist" when I take political polls - I figured it was not too much of a stretch to accept the label of a "conservative" for a visit). I know freepers are freepers but went in with an open heart. And last night they were talking about some conspiracy where Russian had said somewhere that they needed a secret stealth communist to infiltrate the Democrats and implied that Clinton was that person. They also were all over the Congo rape thing. I reminded them that it was the USA that killed the first elected leader of the place 40 years ago and that the fact that war was still going on was a direct result of that. I also reminded them of the child, teen, sex industry that grows up around American bases the world over (especially in impoverished countries). And how the whole issue of sexual sadists being attracted to the military needed to be looked into.

One moderator even had the gaul to ask why on earth I could be so upset!. And I reminded them that their views were also bought and paid for by tax breaks, ridiculous CEO remunerations & al. And that all their bullshit and their dirty tricks and hate were making it into my country so I had a right.

Needless to say my posts are all erased by morning. Too much good information - and not enough circle jerking on my part. Adolescants they are for sure.

14. Oh well that alone probably does plenty of pissing off,
don't worry. Depending on where you live.

I saw a girl at the mall the other day, she couldn't have been more than 17 and she had a shirt with bush's face on it and it said "Can you BELIEVE this shit?"

I laughed my ass off, told her I loved it. She had a jacket half-zipped up over it and she unzipped it after that. I told her "you have no idea how many people who see that secretly love it and how many people see that who NEED to see it."

That was a couple of weeks ago.

18. The guy works the counter at a gas station - and he's a republican?!
Howard Dean is the one guy who could help him - and that worries him?

I'll bet this guy relies on the minimum wage law the GOP wants to cut...has no healthcare....sees his taxes go up (via higher sales taxes, etc.)....and probably sees a trip to Iraq as his biggest opportunity.

He is proof that we are not getting our message out...yet!

I mean, I don't think I made him a Dean-lover or anything, but the few really honest republicans I know have told me that they do admire Dean and feel that he is very sincere. And they respect that.

Believe it or not. But the guy? I don't know his deal. I just know he sort of snorted when they showed Dean. He's just feeling what FUX tells him to feel, LOL. Well, not LOL. Not so funny to be so brainwashed.

34. I went to church with all my liberal bumper stickers.
I have a Kerry, a "Who would Jesus bomb?" and a "Not my president" bumper sticker. All but four of the congregation (out of 25, it's a very small Lutheran church) are Repukes. They give me dirty looks but they tolerate me. I put in 20 years in the military and try as they might they can't figure me out. (I'm not unpatriotic, gay, or an atheist so I can't be a liberal.) Every time any one of them say anything Repuke like, I fire right back at them. I don't let them get away with their lazy logic. When they try to quote the bible to me, I can quote right back at them (you would be surprised how little they really know about the bible). They usually just walk away shaking their heads.

44. Hang in there, fasttense...
:-)

I taught the next generation of Lutheran kids about Jesus healing people of all kinds, with loving words and gentle touch. Directed the choir which sang "Grant us more of your compassion where a neighbor cries in need." Played the worship service where my husband preached on the lessons for Lent I about the temptations Jesus faced in the desert (as we all do) to be something other than He was called to be--tempted by the ease and evil of the devil's taunts, destroying His (and our) identity (as Christ-centered people of God.) Shared the empowering Eucharist giving strength and love for the coming week.

Coffeehour was spent counseling hope, humor and activism to a blue collar congregation pretty much traumatized by current events. Some still have kids/nieces and nephews in Iraq. One of ours walked out of that tent in Mosul ten minutes before the explosion.

20 years ago this congregation was mostly Repub. Now they are mostly Dem, with even the Repubs voting mostly for Kerry in November. Hang in there. I like the DU post I just read about what Dems believe. People who know who they are and what they believe are much less likely to be swayed by the hate mongers masquerading as "Christians." You cannot read Jesus's words without raising questions about this lying administration. Your Bible studies will lead to changed hearts, especially if you remember to pray for them, too.

BTW--I still have Kerry-Edwards on my car, with Investigate the Vote! on top. :-)

Blessed Lent.

(Really, it was growth in faith, through worship and Bible study, inviting in the Holy Spirit's power, which changed our church.)

At my church my car was the only "Kerry/Edwards" bumper sticker around. ;) This baptist church down the road from mine basically all these cars had those "W" stickers. :eyes: I didn't see anybody (but myself) have bumper stickers at my church. Around the election I had a "Kerry/Edwards" pin on my purse. :D

Even if you don't support the guy, you have to admit a blue wristband with Kerry 08 on it should piss off a few RW's.

43. I didn't do much, but my son did.
He's 5 years old.
We were at the grocery store and he saw some Bush's canned goods on the shelves.
He yelled out, very loudly, "Ewwww! Bush! Yuck!"

:)

45. LOL
We have a new thing we do in my family.

Once on DU someone asked "What would you say to bush if he were right in front of you?" and someone (can't remember who) posted "Hock Tooey" and I sat there thinking "Hock Tooey? What does THAT mean?"

Then, um, I got it. As in spitting. LOL. So I told my husband and daughter that little story, they laughed and now if we see a bush sticker, or a picture of him or his ugly mug on TV, we all yell out "HOCK TOOEY!"

It's the nicest thing we can say around our daughter where he's concerned anyway.

What I really want to say is "murderous lying treasonous bigoted silver-spooned carpetbagging idiotic motherfucking greedy bastard ass son of a bitch" but that wouldn't go over too well in front of a ten year old.

Hock Tooey. I like that one.

Maybe we can "Southernize" that one: "Bull Hock Tooey!"

;)

My son keeps it simple. He walks up to people he doesn't know and says, "Bush is stealing your money."

LOL!

By the way I read your thread on attending the UU! I was told years ago that the UU would be good for me, and reading your thread certainly has me interested. I don't know if we have any UU churches here though. But I will certainly look into it, and we do, then I will arrange for when Sapph is next over for us to go together. I always promised her that if I ever decided to attend a church I wouldn't do it without her being here. My spirituality is something I do want to share with her.

I talked to a guy a few tables over, with lots of folks around, about spy planes going over Iran, how Iran was probably next, about 52 missed warnings, and about how Bush's budget will give another tax cut to the 300,000 richest people in the country yet cut food stamps to 300,000 kids and cut Veteran's benefits.

Hmmmmm....there must have been some repubs there, but no one spoke up in defense of any of the above.

today and just held his middle finger up against his window. I smiled and waved.

It really makes them angry when you won't give them the satisfaction of pretending that we are liberating Iraq or doing anything noble. Right below my "Bush Lied, People Died sticker, I have a "No WMDs, No AlQaeda Link, Bush lies kill innocents"

I WILL NOT allow them to forget the original lies and crimes like they want us to. I also have a "support the troops, bring them home" magnet.

The ANGRIEST I ever made a bushbot is when I said, very sincerely, "I DO blame bush for 9/11. It happened on HIS WATCH. I don't care that he was in office nine months when it happened. You know damn well you would be screaming and yelling your head off if it happened when Clinton had been in office nine MINUTES so don't give me ANY of that bullshit."

Wow, she was pissed.

85. This is a small part but good.
I slept through the Grammy's but recorded them so I could see Green Day. When I got up, I watched the Green Day performance. I have a big stereo with big speakers, really loud bass too. I have it hooked up to my vcr so I can watch movies in surround sound sometimes. When Green Day came on(I watched it at like 2:00 a.m. btw), I turned the stereo on and played it loud. When the part of the song came up where Billie Joe says, "well maybe I'm the faggot America, I'm not a part of a redneck agenda", I turned the volume up loud enough that the neighbors would have had to be comletely deaf or dead not to hear it. ;P

I felt good any how. I live in a heavily Republican disctict of the county, so it was irresistable to be totally obnoxious about it. Too much of a good opportunity to pass up.

support clothes made without sweatshops. and the funny thing is it was cheaper, both in product and s/h, and easier, in selection, website, and processing, than anything like the hell when i tried using JC Penny's website (for another pair of different clothes). i ended up giving up on JC Penny's and just bought only from No Sweat.

vote with your $, it speaks louder. also each time i wear it i advertise it. and each time i shake my ass in it an angel gets its wings... oh wait... no, that's another story i think.

"Focus on your own damn family" (I live in Focus on the Family Headquarters-so this one REALLY works LOL), still have my Kerry Edwards sticker prominently displayed, Re-defeat Bush 2004 (which I plan on replacing with "You may say I'm a dreamer but, I'm not the only one" and "Freethinker and I vote"

I get lots of disgusting looks but, the occasional thumbs up and honks make it all worth while.
