Vanity Fair says Ohio Was Stolen! Buy a copy!
Daily KOS gives you the meaty parts of the article that insist the Ohio numbers do not add up:

3. Get over it, Bush won.......................
NOT! ;) I probably gave a few DUers a heart attack and the "alert" buttons were at the ready.

Of course it was stolen.

Voting irregularities in Ohio = Conspiracy nut jobs

Voting irregularities in Iraq = Close scrutiny, recounts galore, investigations.

Democracy seems like it's VERY fickle.

7. How about the Ukraine?
Exit polls predict a win for the western puppet, but the count turns out mysteriously against him. Media response: "Obviously stolen election! Revolt!"

I was surprised to see an article on e-voting/diebold, etc a few months ago (one of the summer issues I think)

6. ..and no paper trail.
In Precinct 1B of Gehanna, in Franklin County, a computerized voting machine recorded a total of 4,258 votes for Bush and 260 votes for Kerry. In that precinct, however, there are only 800 registered voters, of whom 638 showed up.

From AP:

Franklin County pinpoints cause of inflated Bush numbers

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Illinois company that manufactured election machines for Franklin County in Ohio has identified the error that made a laptop computer give thousands of extra votes to President Bush.

The mistake was caught several days after the election. It had Bush receiving four-thousand-258 votes in a precinct in the Columbus suburb of Gahanna where only 638 voters cast ballots. The corrected official count showed 365 votes for Bush.

The director of the Franklin County elections board says a review showed no fraud or tampering.

Gurnee-based voting machine manufacturer -- Danaher Controls -- has inspected the counting system and concluded the laptop was busy completing another task just as numbers from that precinct were being fed into it.

How convenient an excuse.

10. I'm going to buy a copy of Vanity Fair ASAP.
But in the meantime, here's one source of the above news item: http://www.votecobb.org/online_opinion/2005/feb/op2005-02-09.php (Notice that the above was from the Green Party)

12. Page 214!
I have never SEEN such a maddening magazine. I found the location of that Hitchen's article by pure shit-house luck (it wasn't listed on the cover]. Maybe later tonight, I might accidentally find where they hid the Table of Contents.

But at 2lb & 5oz for $4.50, it was a BARGAIN. There were a few other articles that got my eye, and I'll get to them later. A paragraph header I noticed, had Zogby blaming Michael Moore for the Kerry defeat. The retort seems to be that had it NOT been for MM and F 9-11, Bush and his Bucks would have gotten the LANDSLIDE that he lusted after. Allowing for my own personal prejudices, I think that to be right on

11. Just have a less obvious laptop in every few precincts
and you too can steal yourself an election!

"Oops! It was the computer's fault"! :eyes:

8. In Washington, the Republicans fight on. In Ohio, the Democrats gave in...
Like Florida 2000, our side just gives up and walks away too often.

We wonder why Democrats have no power in the United States? It's because most of our elected officials gave it all away because they didn't want to upset anyone by fighting for what is right.
