Divide and conquer
There is a small Privileged or Ruling Class in this world which only accounts for about 2% of the world's population, yet controls the vast majority of its wealth, resources and capital. That 2% doesn't care one whit if the person laboring in their factories is white, black or purple, or if the worker is male or female, or even if s/he is straight or gay.

That 2% only cares whether their workers continue to produce and remain distracted. The distraction can be from the My God is Better than Your God school of thought or it can be based on our differences in race and gender. That 2% knows, however, that if we worker bees are not distracted (and divided), that we will begin to focus on real issues and may even demand fair treatment as *gasp* human beings. The Privileged Class, unlike most workers, remembers the French and Russian revolutions, and knows what can happen when the workers of the world unite.

I don't know where all the recent race based threads have come from, but they are simply a distraction, people. Racism exists, as does classism. Someone else who is making $100K is not part of the ruling elite, even if you are only making $25K. Blaming, resenting or hating each other isn't the answer- it only helps keep us distracted and divided, and keeps our attention off the real culprits.

Unless you are among the 2%, don't fall for the trap. And if you are among the 2%, I'm sure Skinner could use another donation. :-)
