According to a July 28th, 2000 article in USA Today, back in 1978 when President Bush was running for congress in Texas, "he predicted Social Security would go broke in 10 years and said the

1978 is in the pre-nexis era. So it's difficult to find coverage from the time if you're not on the scene. But presumably there are some local papers accessible on microfilm down in Texas that would shed more light on George W.: The Early Phase-Out Years.

4. Boy that's the truth. I don't believe a word he utters. When he's
not out right, bold face lying he's putting his silver foot in his mouth...or mostly both.

5. Yeah, but its not his fault
He probably said a lot of crazy shit back then. After all, he was a drunk-driving alcoholic.

11. GWB was just following the Repub
agenda, the dismantling of Social Security. Hardline Republicans have never given up on trying to do away with the SS thorn in capitalism's side. There is simply no room for anything remotely resembling Socialism in the minds of the Hardliner capitalists. Privatization of all institutions, services and industries is the capitalistic dream. Collectivism by the people is undesirable because it diminishing power of the affluent. Defeat of unionism was perhaps the first of collectivism practices to be stomped upon.
