What the hell's the difference between Hitler & bush Invading nations.....
....and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people who did not attack us, a people whom they look down upon as something less than human, and stealing all their resources and setting up a government?

What's the Difference between Ancient Rome and 1940's Germany and the United States of America in the 21st century?

What's the big difference?

The only difference is that WE are doing it to Iraq......

And it is costing us in the world arena, both in prestige, and economically:

The U.S. Model: For years, much of the world did aspire to the American way of life. But today countries are finding more appealing systems in their own backyards.
Newsweek InternationalYOU WON"T SEE THIS ARTICLE HERE IN THE STATES

Jan. 31 issue - Not long ago, the American dream was a global fantasy. Not only Americans saw themselves as a beacon unto nations. So did much of the rest of the world. East Europeans tuned into Radio Free Europe. Chinese students erected a replica of the Statue of Liberty in Tiananmen Square.

You had only to listen to George W. Bush's Inaugural Address last week (invoking "freedom" and "liberty" 49 times) to appreciate just how deeply Americans still believe in this founding myth. For many in the world, the president's rhetoric confirmed their worst fears of an imperial America relentlessly pursuing its narrow national interests. But the greater danger may be a delusional Americaone that believes, despite all evidence to the contrary, that the American Dream lives on, that America remains a model for the world, one whose mission is to spread the word.

The gulf between how Americans view themselves and how the world views them was summed up in a poll last week by the BBC. Fully 71 percent of Americans see the United States as a source of good in the world. More than half view Bush's election as positive for global security. Other studies report that 70 percent have faith in their domestic institutions and nearly 80 percent believe "American ideas and customs" should spread globally.

Foreigners take an entirely different view: 58 percent in the BBC poll see Bush's re-election as a threat to world peace. Among America's traditional allies, the figure is strikingly higher: 77 percent in Germany, 64 percent in Britain and 82 percent in Turkey. Among the 1.3 billion members of the Islamic world, public support for the United States is measured in single digits. Only Poland, the Philippines and India viewed Bush's second Inaugural positively.

13. None. That is what the U.N. was about.
Had he gotten the proper authorization, he could have claimed a legitimacy that Hitler never could have. As it is now, Bush's excuses and reasons are no better than Hitler's were. Legitimacy was the only distinction possible. Bush couldn't get the U.N. to give it to him, so he did it anyway (and tried to bring the U.N. down with him in the process..."debating society" is what Bush supposedly relegated it to if it didn't do as he wanted, I think).

14. I mentioned something like this yesterday
to a co-woker about how we are exterminating people in Iraq with our "clean" bombing vs. Hitler's Aushwitz and how it was similar she but said I was going overboard. Not to detract from the terrible event then, but we are really no better. I guess slaughtering 100,000 Iraqi civillians (mostly women and children) doesn't matter. If not Hilter, than Pol Pot, or Colonel Sheriden and his "Nits make lice" attitude during the killing of Native Americans. Genocide is genocide.

Remember back when we brought up the fact that the possible invasion of Iraq was no different than the invasion of Poland, right down to the lies and manufactured evidence to do so, we were admonished that it wasn't right to compare Bush to Hitler. I mean where were the concentration camps?

LOL about that one. I would laugh even louder if it wasn't so tragic.
On edit. There is no satisfaction in being able to yell, "I told you so", after the damage has been done.

they are busy making up new reasons why the US in in Iraq and how bushie is really a wonderful person.

The brownshirts have been calling Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy -- and it interesting to hear them repeat the latest cult talking points. The keep changing the reason why the US invaded Iraq and why Iraqis are being killed. They refuse to acknowledge that Iraq is a fucked up mess.

I once had a German teacher who was a Hitler Youth -- she wrote a book, I changed gods detailing her experiences. Ironically she switched from Hitler to a controlling fundamentalist sect. She admitted that Hitler worship was a cult -- but she couldn't see that her new god and new religion was also cult like.

Bush like Hitler can tap into the worst part of human nature -- they were skilled at releasing the evil part of humans. Greed is Good.

Damn it WE are right and we told them that going into Iraq would end up being another Vietnam. However we were called a "focus group". 90% of the world is a focus group.

24. Not that I disagree but
Hitler had nearly 100% support and Bush has substantially less than that from Americans as a whole. When everyone in the country is asked to throw themselves or a family member on the fire, I don't think we're going to stand for it. Going into Iran will be Bush's Barbarossa and our nation's downfall.

33. No--the Germans really loved him
Germany was mostly populated by the kind of people who support Bush. White and proud of it, male-dominated families, super-militaristic, hyper patriotic, Protestants. If our demographics matched Germany's our election results would match Germany's. Hitler never had to fix an election.

Of course, the Germans learned their lesson at Stalingrad and became good people, for the most part, even though they physically resemble Bush supporters in the US. Our Aryan semi-majority is begging for its Stalingrad like a bitch in heat--but I think the half of the country that isn't living in Whitemanistan will refuse to give it to them, in the end.

37. Not until they start sending liberals to the camps, and the rest
flee to other countries, just like in Germany during the Third Reich, then you will have 100% approval of Bush. Hitler pushed his agenda with racism and the Bush camp is doing the very same thing. They are more subtle about it still, but it's becoming more acceptable. Look at all those ordinary Americans who are now approving of torture.

30. Actually, it was Hitler's father that was the bastard.
Hitler had a lower middle class existence, but chose to live the life of a vagabond artist in Vienna, because he was too lazy or maybe thought too much of himself to actually get a job. After many relatives got tired of giving him money to go to school to improve himself, he then hit the skids for awhile until WWI broke out. He was able to join the Bavarian Army then. Unlike our Bushler, Hitler did fight bravely in the front lines.
