How does placing your life in God's hands reconcile w/self-reliance?
They seem contradictory:

"I put myself in God's hands."

"I'm not lazy - I don't ask for handouts from the government."

Seemingly if you are following #2 above, you are not really placing your future in God's hands.

2. "I put myself in God's hands." means I expect nothing/demand nothing
and accept the fate that God has in store for me.

Why do folks assume "handouts" are part of the conversation ?
