1. Well, we do have to
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 07:28 AM by HypnoToad
stay and rebuild the cities we destroyed

ensure that the people remain liberated

protect the oil wells. Yeah, that's it.

On edit: Are the wells Iraq's still? Or by some clever 'legal' chicanery, are they US property now?

4. Very confusing...
The Shiite leader, Ayatollah Al-Hakim, the "PM in waiting", said recently that it would be the duty of the new govt to demand the US leave "as soon as possible". See: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1452397,00.html

However in early January, he said that US troops would have to stay in Iraq for the "forseeable future".

American puppet Iyad Allawi said within the last day or so that talk of a US withdrawal was premature: http://www.startribune.com/stories/709/5200536.html

Then the Americans have their own ideas. Confusing. I personally think that whoever "wins" the "elections", US troops will be "asked" to stay in Iraq for "as long as necessary".

5. I respectfully suggest that the General is delusional
Or, he is talking from cue cards provided by his civilian handlers. We will be there a lot longer than two years, and I daresay with a minimum of 120K. Its the price of a mistake.
