Just because someone benefitted from Affirm. Action, does not mean
the person is unqualified. Affirmative action was meant to address racism, not incompetence. Back in the day (and even now in certain instances), a Black person or female could have 100 degrees and still be passed over for someone with a high school degree. I just thought I'd point that out.

1. Who here, that's not a freeper, would argue that point?
Incompetence and criminality is color blind and sexless.

2. It's a sad irony that Freeper women
don't seem to get that it was put in place to help them too (as women). :(

4. People who are opposed to AA will find some quality to
exploit, pressure and disqualify anyone who gets in, based on AA. It can be something incredibly lame as pointing out the person says "Axe" instead of "Ask"; or that someone has a chip on their shoulder; or that "they" like to stick to their own. Sometimes it gets much, much worse.

In an Employment Discrimination class, I had a bright white, gay classmate confess to me that in the law firm that he worked for as a paralegal, they had intentionally sabotaged work that was given to a Puerto Rican new-hire, to see if he could find the mistake. He couldn't, they fired him. He had moved from Puerto Rico, had a pregnant wife and they sabotaged him. The classmate's excuse was that the information was available for anyone who understood Florida Law.

And then a relative of mine who is Republican, and now regretting it because of this Iraq disaster, use to argue that it was bad to have employees that you couldn't fire at a drop of a hat because you're forced to keep bad employees. Yet, he is always complaining and under stress because he's fearful of being laid off from work. He suffers health problems, he is a racist, he's turned his son into a racist. So, they work for this large private industrial-military complex which must adhere to AA for federal reasons, and all they do is spew hatred and see lay-offs affecting more white males than other races, though they never present any evidence to back-up their contention.

5. In a perfect World!
We would not need Affirmative Action. People seem to think AA promotes reverse racism. It actually creates an even playing field that will allow everybody a chance to advance. I heard someone say that AA is unfair to (excuse the expression) white people, because unqualified blacks and Hispanics are getting jobs and scholarships over the more qualified white people. Statements like that really gets to me! This country was built on the blood, sweat, and tears of black people, and my people had to risk life and limb just to live another day. While, the slave owners profited off of all of the slaves hard work. Where is the outrage for that? Oh, I forgot, we should get over that, that was a long time ago!!!!!!!!

6. I thought it was very sad yesterday when several DUers blamed AA....
...for Condeleeza getting a Phd and a teaching job at Stanford. It was just playing right into the freepers' hands.
