How do we get in front of Rummy's remarks?
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 12:08 PM by party_line
He just lobbed one from the side about how critics of Bush aid the enemy. Don't these guys know ANYTHING about how our govt is SUPPOSED to work?

They are going to run on a war time plank and try to stiffle dissent- I see it coming. I suggest EVERYONE call their candidate and demand a response to this assault on democracy.

1. well, in theory, it should be easy...
dissent is patriotic. Really, the ones who make it possible for Rummy to speak this garbage are the neocons and the sheeple. If people would respond with as much outrage as we do here on DU, he wouldn't be able to get away with it. But as long as people tolerate it, he'll be able to continue his fear peddling, war mongering ways, sad to say.

3. They might have gotten away with it...
...when we were just a "focus group", a mere 10% of the population, but not now. Oh, HELL NO, Rumsfeld is the traitor, and he should go directly to the brig without passing go or redistributing any wealth...

4. Aren't you concerned that
"middle America" will fall for that, once the whole repub machine takes it up? I think it should be countered- early, specifically and often- so that a rebuttal reaches everyone.

5. We don't, we ignore it for we now have more important things to do...
1) keep pressing on the lies that took us to war.

2) keep pressing for the truth on 911 and prosecution of the culprits
that deliberately covered-up the health-hazards in the wake of the WTC collapse. I expect someone lied to Congress or one of its bodiesand that would be a felony.

3) keep pressing for the truth about the Saudi/bin Laden family
escape from American interrogation after 911.

4) keep pressing for prosecution of whomever broke the law regarding
the identification of Wilson's wife as a CIA agent (Cheny and Rove?)

5) keep pressing on the repeal USA PATRIOT and other projects on surveillance of citizens such as CAPPS.

6) Keep the pressure on determining just what middle east plans were cooked up during Cheny's secret Energy Task Force hearings

7) Keep the pressure on Rove's illegal activity influencing government agencies regarding the diversion of water for irrigation in the northwest.

8) Keep the pressure on the find out if government agents in black helicopters started a forest fire to provide a backdrop for Bush's speech on forest thinning.

7. So, according to Rummy, we're not supposed to criticize Bush
during the election? It helps america's enemies more than GOP presidents giving them weapons? More than giving money to the Taliban? More than Halliburton/Cheney doing business with Saddam despite the trade embargo?
Every time Rummy opens his mouth and makes a facist statement (as he and Ashcroft are the two that seem to do it the most in this misadministration), the news media needs to use the photo Incardero posted as their backround image when reporting the story.

8. It's been fairly obvious since 9-12 that TERROR! and patriotism...
...would be used to keep Bush* in office for a full eight years. I hate to say it...but it just might work in MIND-NUMBED America.

9. Yeah. They tried the exact same thing during Vietnam
Ok. Fine. Let's just do whatever Smirk and Rumfilled say. Wanna nuke Japan? Hey, fine. go right ahead. Surely we can't aid our enemies by differing with our fearless leaders.

Wanna take on Russia? Hey those guys gave us a bunch of shit for a long time. Go right ahead. Can't disagree, cause it might aid our enemies.

Wanna give Smirk a 30% commission on all war spending? Hey, go right ahead. Gotta support that wartime leader!!

Fucking Asshole.
