Do the troops overseas really know about the Inauguration excesses?

Or do they receive "filtered" accounts on what's really going on?

1. I would think they would know. But the question is
do they care? I read somewhere that something like 70 some percent went in favor of Bush.

4. I would be interested in those stats.
Do you have a link?

The bush* death house has been suspiciously silent on this issue (military vote) since Nov 2nd.

3. "filtered" accounts? They get Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces Radio.
They are subjected to daily propaganda. Poor kids. :(

5. They also get CNN
ABC/NBC headline news; Dan Rather commentaries, etc. It's actually pretty balanced.

7. I'm not a service person, so I don't know first hand
but CNN is certainly slanted corporate media, and Dan Rather is kept on a short leash. If they got Air America Radio, THEN I'd be impressed. :)

8. I was
Spent 8 years overseas. AFRTS is pretty balanced. Once Air America builds its audience base, I won't be surprised if AFRTS starts to air it.

6. Uummmmm, this is a *serious* question, correct?

Uummmmm, this is a *serious* question, correct?

Okay. Here's my *serious* response: It makes no difference whether "the troops overseas really know about the inauguration excesses!"

Why do I say that? Because our troops wouldn't be overseas, at least the troops in Iraq, if they were fully aware of the chicanery perpetrated by this Bush Administration that got them there in the first instance.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

9. I was wondering if they knew....
Yes, this is a serious question, because if I was risking my life for my country and those in power were more interested in celebrating than in getting me home then I would be beyond angry.

.

The first clue of "caring" is that our troops, Reservists and National Guard, in Iraq have crappy equipment, lousy body and equipment armor, ill-prepared, out-of-condition both mentally and physically, and their stays are way beyond reasonable and prudent! Putting your life on the line in Iraq is a cheap trick perpetrated by George W. Bush and His Lackeys.

Besides. These guys are trained to kill not to play city cop and "good guy." Talk about twisted. It's "schitzo!"

And you say it's a "serious question" about some stupid inauguration? Nah, I disagree. BTW, corporate America is paying the bulk of the money for this inauguration. They are buying their way into the Oval Office. This, too, is not new. However, maybe the quantity of it is somewhat new.

One more aside. Are you aware that there's a new Bush *policy* now in effect about our American forces in Iraq? Yup. Now they are trained in "how to speak and behave w/ the news media." This, of course, occurred after that-soldier-who-told-Rummy-that-troops-were-using-HillBilly-armor-procured-from-the-dump! Allegedly, his question was authored by the "news media!"

edited to add:

1.) A Forbes Magazine article about the costs of this inauguration, and who is paying for it including a list of corporate America "donations" . . . http://www.forbes.com/home/business/2005/01/20/cx_da_0120topnews.html

2.) A reprinted Washington Post article . . . re the District of Columbia (D.C./city) will get soaked for the inauguration costs . . . http://www.etherzone.com/forum/index.php/topic,2585.0.html

11. I would LOVE to see a copy of any kind of memo
that instructed the troops on what they were "allowed" to tell the American public! I anyone gets or sees one, be sure and post it here.
