The "Reich Wing" has succeeded in gutting our Treasury. IMPEACH NOW!

Does anyone doubt it was part of the plan all along? With Bush's $80+ B-I-L-L-I-O-N dollar request last night, that pretty much does it. Trillion dollar deficits, are a dream come true for the right-wing radicals who seek to overthrow our government by starving it to death.

They've won folks! They're celebrating the overthrow of the republican democracy known as the United States of America, and the fucking stupid, flag waving, uneducated, TV watching, Rush-listening, SUV driving "patriots", helped them do it. Problem is, these morons have no clue as to what has happened, and won't, until it comes time to ask the government for something THEY need. Temporarily happy with the "chump-change" they received from the tax cuts, they are busy filling the shopping lines at Walmart, while the corrupt, wealthy, oligarchs that run this nation, laugh at them all. "FD's", (fodder units) is what George Bush Sr. called them, and indeed, perhaps that's all they are.

In the process, the Bush cabal has made sure that Halliburton and Bechtel, and their military-industrial supporters, are allowed to brutally rape this nation for B-I-L-L-I-O-N-S more. Then there is the little matter of the missing T-R-I-L-L-I-O-N-S of dollars at the Pentagon. Why is no one raising hell about this? This in itself, is proof positive of the deep sickness and criminal malaise within our current government!

With our states going banKrupt, our infrastructure falling apart, our colleges and schools starving for support and revenue, with millions jobless, millions without healthcare, hundreds of thousands of children hungry, millions more added to the poverty roles over the last 2 years, with a record-breaking number of personal bankruptcies, with fraud and crime rampant among the corporate class (who are allowed to walk free after a "hand-slap"), millions of American jobs being shipped overseas, our environment being destroyed, our prison populations exploding, illegal and costly wars being started by the neocons behind this president, our world stature destroyed, our Constitution being mangled and distorted, with stolen elections, Social Security and Medicare in crisis, and corruption at every turn, ...DOES SOMEONE WANT TO TELL ME HOW GOOD THIS FUCKHEAD OF A PRESIDENT IS AGAIN, and how we can afford to spend $80+ B-I-L-L-I-O-N dollars in Iraq right now?

This country has no "balls", if it did, we would be "storming the Bastille" right gawdamn now, and take back OUR government! Waiting until the elections, may leave us nothing but a mere shell (and, that's "their" plan, regardless of who wins). And these bastards on the Right have the audacity to call those of us on the Left, radicals? Fuck them. The Left, aren't the one's destroying this nation..., and never have been. It's always been the Right, with their greed and fascism, from the beginning, that have tried to destroy the foundations of this country. What will we have left in 05', when the new Dem president is sworn in? I say, IMPEACHMENT NOW, for the entire Bush administration, and if the Senate and the House don't do it voluntarily, then I say we march on D,.C. is such numbers, they shit their pants in fear, and finally do the People's Business!!

3. The people of Hong Kong (500,000 of them)
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 10:39 AM by barbaraann
rose up a few weeks ago to protest some oppressive "security" laws and they STOPPED THEM. I do not think this protest was violent.

Hopefully we Americans can somehow find the same resolve and courage that the people of Hong Kong demonstrated.

Edited twice for typos -- need more coffee. :-)

4. The protest in Hong Kong was entirely...
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 10:27 AM by Flying_Pig
peaceful. It's all we need here, peaceful protest, but in enough numbers (millions) to shake their asses up. Violence, will just give them an excuse to invoke the worst parts of the Patriot Act, call up the storm troopers, and open the internment camps (they're built and waiting). Violence should always be the LAST resort (something McSmirkyboy forgot about with Iraq). We need to scare the shit out of these people, but we can do it without violence, but we won't know this, ...IF WE DON'T TRY IT!!!!!

Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 11:48 AM by Flying_Pig
We need to shut down D.C., with MILLIONS of marchers! It's what should have been done during the Iraq anti-war protests. Hundreds of thousands is only enough for the media and the politicos to poo-poo, but several million aren't. You wouldn't believe the number of people I speak with overseas and in Canada, who simply can't believe that we haven't done this yet! They, like me, are wondering what the hell is going on? Has this nation gone completely insane? They have lost faith in us, as WE have lost faith in ourselves.....):

7. Perhaps we have gone insane. This past weekend here
in Seattle we had several hundred people protesting the 10 cent "latte tax" which will go for child care, etc. They had a protest modeled on the Boston Tea Party.

Wait til they get the bill from the BFEE!

Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 12:50 PM by Flying_Pig
Must be nice to be able to afford so many lattes, that an itty-bitty 10-cent tax is going to impact them so much. Were they put up to it by megacorp-Starbucks people, or were they just the typical anti-tax wingnuts who are destroying this nation? Probably some of both.

Headline in MY newspaper:

"As the world burns, fucking idiots in Seattle march against 10-cent latte tax".

When asked how important this really was in the scheme of things, one protester remarked, "If we don't stop those tax and spend liberals here, our world is doomed." He then hoppped in his new BMW, which had a "Bush in 04'" sticker on the back, and sped away.

Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 11:49 AM by Flying_Pig
Back in the 60's we seemed to have more passion and fire. When this kind of crap happened back then, there were marches all over the country, all the time. We put our butts on the line, we were beaten with police batons, we were gassed, but goddamn it, we marched!! Nowadays, it seems people can't be torn away from Regis and Kelly long enough to give a crap. Our country is being destroyed right in front of us, and so many can't seem to be "bothered" about it. My generation were fighters. This generation is too comfortable with the status quo. If one wants to change things, one has to show up to the party. I am ready to march on D.C., and wonder why no one is organizing it. I am but one person, disabled at that, but by gawd, I can still fight!
:wtf:

BTW, thanks for the compliment on my "rant", but they're not needed. It appears to be like screaming into the wilderness though....

10. Back in the sixties there was a lot of press coverage.
If it wasn't for DU, I wouldn't know there were any protests going on. Even the print media seems to bury them in some obscure place. Without media coverage it doesn't make much of an impression.

11. Well sure....
the media is fully in cahoots with them now. The media forgot about the part about them being an intergal part of democracy, and instead have become a tool to be used AGAINST the people. Free media is essential to democracy, and the fuckers have stolen that too! But, there is enough of us who know, and through the Internet, and places like DU, and through organizations like MoveOn, and others, we sure as hell ought to be able to turn out a few million in D.C.!

Perhaps we should nail the media first, and do mass picketing of them, until they allow our message to get out? That needs to be done anyway. Several hundred thousand people picketing in front of NBC/CBS/FOX/CNN/ABC/N.Y. Times/Wash. Post, ect., WILL get their attention!!!The majority of media are traitors to this nation, and should be treated as such. We need to put them on notice, ...NOW!!

13. We just need to replace them
The majority of media are traitors to this nation, and should be treated as such. We need to put them on notice, ...NOW!!

We ARE the media now. CD sales are down because people are bypassing the labels and Tower Records and getting their own music from the web. Soon the artists will be making and distributing their music directly on the web.

Same way, we are replacing CNN and NYT and all the corporate media. It's not happening overnight - but it's happening pretty fast.

How long did it take the world to realize FDR LIHOP Pearl Harbor? And how long has it taken the world to realize that BUSH LIHOP 9/11? Everyday a few thousand more people learn the meaning of the words 'Operation Northwoods' when they look it up on google - and they never forget.

The right wing and the corporate media were getting pretty confident over the past few years - but at the same time the grassroots media of bulletin boards and blogs is just starting to take off. The stolen election of 2000 (troll prophylactic: I don't just mean the Supreme Court - I mean BlackBox Voting and Choicepoint way BEFORE the election as well) was a big wakeup call. Bush's inauguration had more protesters than any other since 1973 - a quarter of a century. Then after 9/11 lots of people realized what this regime was up to. Lots of this news came from the web.

The right wing always suffers from hubris. They have no idea how grassroots movements or internet movements function. They're all about command-and-control centers, and in the age of the internet it's about decentralization and smartmobs. The Democratic candidates who understand the interactive, participatory nature of the web have surprised everyone with their fund-raising abilities.

Yes, we're not all the way there yet. There is still the Digital Divide - which maybe we could help bridge if we used those snazzy little printers hooked up to our machines and started leafletting our neighborhoods with some choice articles we've found on the web.

The computer I'm using now cost $300 dollars used. I'm a computer programmer and I bought this machine for my roommate (who had never used one before) so he could do email and get on the web. He loves it and doesn't know how he ever lived without it. This is the same reaction most people have. Now that a computer is around the same price as a TV - more people are starting to use them and talking to each OTHER about what's going on, instead of waiting for some mealy-mouthed anchorperson to tell them.

14. All this is true...
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 12:54 PM by Flying_Pig
I've been a "net activist", since the "net" was invented, and I've seen great strides. Still, and I don't have to tell you this, the vast majority of this nation gets their news (read: propaganda) from the major networks (NBC/ABC/FOX/CBS), and the news services (AP, UPI, etc.) vis-s-vis their newspapers. Repeat: vast majority.

As long as the majority are consuming and believing the propaganda spewed forth daily, we're in trouble, and that's why we need to attack the media from every vantage, and not just by doing an end run around them using the net. We must FORCE them to tell the truth. I think you would agree, 500,000+ protesters outside NBC, or CBS, or ABC's headquarters, protesting their lying, calling them traitors, and calling for their arrest for treason, sedition, and violations of the RICO statutes, would scare the piss out of them. That's what we need to do, and we need to do it now. Waiting for them to "come around", is lame, because they won't. They are going to have to be forced back into their responsibility of being a pillar of our democracy.

18. We need MoveOn, or some group
like that to organize it. I am a member of MoveOn, and have been since they started. I am going to write them and see if I can urge them to organize a demonstration at the media headquarters, and/or, on D.C., and see what they say. I'll keep DU posted. Any others here interested in marching, should also write MoveOn (www.moveon.org) too. The more the merrier. We've got to do something drastic! I am West Coast, but will get to D.C., and/or, N.Y. (media) for a march.

16. I will march with you
What you propose is what it will take. Millions of us descending on D.C. and other fortresses of national destruction.

Bastards, one and all, and I include a majority of suck-up Democrats. We need a new party--the Integrity Party, or perhaps a Populist Party. Live it or shut up and don't even think you will get one vote.

Texas is toast. No schoolbooks yet for my kid who started school three weeks ago.

If we ALL keep ranting loud enough, make enough sacrifices, and keep our own integrity, maybe, just maybe, we can turn this thing around.

Gather the torches and to the streets! Anarchy against the anarchists!

17. Extremely accurate assessment
There is a march coming up

OCTOBER 25th: March for an end to the occupation of Iraq!

Act Now to Stop War & End Racism (ANSWER) and United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ), are joining forces to call on all those who oppose the war, invasion and occupation of Iraq, to unite on Saturday, October 25 in Washington, D.C., for a truly massive outpouring reflecting the growing popular opposition to the Bush Administration’s foreign and domestic program.

It was the peace and antiwar movement in the 1960’s and 70’s that proved to be one of the decisive factors ending the US war in Vietnam. The October 25th demonstration will be a powerful repudiation by the people of the United States of Bush’s criminal war and occupation of Iraq and will be a signal of the new antiwar movement’s potent political force countering the Bush Administration.

20. I am aware of these protests...
and that's great, but we need more. We need an "impeachment" focus march against ALL of the policies of this regime, not just their Iraq policy, and we also need to protest the media in a way that scares the shit out of them. What would be ideal, is for all the groups to join together, but march in D.C. by the millions, and for the "whole enchilada", not just Iraq.

22. I've been thinking as well, FP, that we ALL need to go and CAMP
every day, every night until * is gone and things change! I don't work either, but what we will need is CHEAP places to stay and eat, etc.!

I say that we organize the beginnings of it and get everyone to come in on rotating basis like those in Korea/Japan have done on peaceful protests against government and unions!!

IF we don't stand up and do it for LONG time, noone will notice! Also, there are hunger strikes too...last resort maybe...but we are all slowly dying on the vine here anyways :(

I'm with ya! Let's get the ball rolling!! When I get letters back from my representative stating she is behind Bush on stuff I've asked her to stand against...well, I feel like my hands are tied behind my back!

Let's find an organized way to do this and go for the gold NOW! Maybe we could eat in soup kitchens (pay them to deliver food and tip/donate them really well!) and find hostels or something that is safe and really on the cheap side! Being a female here in D.C. is a bit scarey for me, as I've never been there, but I am damned sure willing to try for it!

I think, also, we need to simultaneously march on state capitols as well! All at the same damned time! We can't give up and I just don't see legal means (as in letter writing and such) cutting it!

Those in Japan/Korea had arm/head bands that had lettering and wore certain vests or shirts...all the same and had flags flying. They sang songs of unison to bind them together, ate together, slept together! We in America need that same spirit...we've lost our fighting spirit maybe because we've become so far removed from government and feel we are totally out of control or our world now and somehow feeling guilt and shame because of our LACK of actions in the past! MOVE ON!! I'm ready!

Let's do it!

23. Let's start by writing MoveOn, and perhaps.....
some of the other groups. I am going to compose a few e-mails tomorrow, and send them off, and then give a couple of days for a response. You should write them too. Maybe one of us will be able to get a response, and get the ball rolling. In order to get the numbers of people needed to have an impact, we must work with the existing groups. Surely, at this point, given all that has happened, they are, or hacve, considered this. Maybe they just need a little nudge to get it going.

Whatever, it's better than sitting around bitching about things, and hoping they will get better. As for myself, I am disabled, but I can make it to D.C., one way or the other. And if I have to live on Snickers bars for a few days, and sleep in the bus station, I'll do it. If the groups get behind it, there will be food, and places to sleep, even if it's in a stadium or something. Although, the D.C. and N.Y. authorities will try to make it as difficult as possible to organize a protest, we get enough people, they are just going to have to move the hell out of the way... What would be really cool, is if most of the Dem candidates marched with us!!!!

24. Time for an across the board tax increase of 10%
We can help bring back welfare as we knew it, build home for the homeless, provide medical for all including immigrants, build mass public transportation and eliminate private vehicles.

I'm sure that a tough love candidate would win with the promise of an increase that provided for all the needy and helped move America forward.

to start Civil War-2. Having said that, it is exactly what the country needs. As the same time, we should cut our military budget in half, and find the missing THREE TRILION DOLLARS the Pentagon can't "locate". Then, there would be plenty of money for the programs this nation needs....
