Just when I thought it was safe to watch the Daily Show--
actually I was watching intermittently last night. During the credits I caught a C-span covered meeting w/shrub providing yet another stupid sound byte, and equally devastating footage.

Did anyone else see this? What was it from? Who was the African American seated next to Shrub, listening to his inane comments about black men?

1. Saw it...
Jon didn't even need a punch line. I was literally ROFL just from the footage alone.

6. The premature, comparitively, deaths of black men are due to MEDICAL
CAUSES (beyond black youths killing black youths, which seems to have abated a bit) ARE DUE TO INNATE HEALTH PROBLEMS!
High blood pressure, heart disease, etc.

AND BUSH IS FAR FROM A HEALTH CARE ADVOCATE!

MINGIA MORTE!
HOW FUCKING STUPID CAN ONE (alleged) HUMAN BEING BE???

3. Did you see the guy's reaction to * blathering on about

...how the age of SS eligibility should be lowered for black men because their lifespans are shorter? When he said the system isn't fair to them? I though I was going to plotz....

4. he wasn't saying to lower the age
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 05:11 PM by tk2kewl
he was using it as an argument for private accounts. the idea was black men could get an opportunity to use more of the SS $ before they end up dead if it were in private accounts rather than in fixed monthly benefits.

On edit: the idea was absolutely absurd. How about health care, education and good jobs as a way to extend their lives, rather than giving them a chance to get more SS money before their premature deaths.

5. Mr. Stewart has an alternate idea -
how about doing something about the problems that lead African-American men to die early?

8. Bushy was trying to reassure the poor guy sitting next to him
that the government was going to make sure he got more money, not that the government were going to do anything to change the statistic that black men die younger. It was like, "OK, you are expendable but I'll make sure you get an extra fiver in your check each month until you kick the bucket. Priceless.

13. The guy next to him seemed to cringe a bit when
shrub started in on black men--

I'd feel sorry for him, but he had to be a bushie supporter or he wouldn't have been there.

9. That Oklahoma Senator
He said that too and went further to say it was because of genetics. :eyes: I could not even believe Bush said that. Poverty and racism and gun mania create the environment where young black men are slaughtered, and the Bushies have the audacity to use that to justify inflicting even more harm to minorities and the poor. Unbelievable. And you just know J.C. Watts or some other shill will be right there repeating that crap.

10. Unbelievable
I didn't hear about Bush's comment. That's really outrageous. So on top of everything else Bush is racist. Why am I not surprised?

12. He does that all the time
The idea is to point out how INANE these talking head shows are, how everyone on them is yelling, how they foster an atmosphere of dickheadedness, how they are HURTING DEMOCRACY....

His point is that trading insults is more for children. You've got to have a bully, and someone being bullied, to make that work....

I think it's a funny bit, myself/

14. I really don't think Krugman is upset about it.
Krugman was just involved. I fail to believe Stewart is critical of Krugman. Stewart would probably prefer that Krugman stay away from thos yahoos - he hates that program style.

18. think the guy sitting next to bush,
as he raised his microphone to respond and then discovered he was speechless and put his mic back down, and just kept looking at bush with this expression that hinted he would like to punch bush...do you think the guy was still a repuke the next day?
