| BLUE RIBBON PANEL ON RIGHT WING PAYOLA? |
|
Who should we contact to get an investigation of how widespread Armstrong Williams type payola is?
The FCC?
Some congressional committee?
All the networks that hire these shills?
Also, is this illegal?
The other side of this is I know from first hand experience that papers (and probably TV) often take press releases and rework them as stories, or even run them verbatim without identifying them as PR.
A student asked me if she should go into journalism or PR, and I told her it's the same thing.

I'm thinking back to papa bush and the first gulf war, but the principle applies here too.
