1. I am just embarrassed to be an American these days. Two guys
sat in the local tavern the other night and watched the tsunami coverage and said "why should we help these people, all they want to do is kill us" and I just wanted to die of shame. They elected the government they deserve. The other half of us deserved a helluva lot better. I wish emigrating was an option for me but I don't think there is going to be any escaping the environmental repercussions that are coming soon anyway. (Gee, what a cheerful way to start my day here <sigh> ;).

2. oh please
What a crock. His approval AFTER the "election" was the same as before--48%. What has he done to make people like him more since then? Nothing.

I simply do not believe polls anymore. Not even polls which show results I like. We're being systematically lied to and there is no reason to believe that the sudden jump back up to 52% isn't a lie as well.

4. don't believe it
Since the media is now acting as a mouthpiece for Bush, I wouldn't believe any polls showing Bush approval ratings above 49%.

Not only that, I don't believe that over 48% of people actually voted for Bush in the election, which was rigged by fraud, disenfranchisement of minorities, and computer tampering.

5. Agreed
And it's making me crazy. I don't trust the news media or the polls. If a big chunk of other folks feel likewise, it makes for a very precarious situation in this teetering democracy.

3. AP is calling it even-49% each
"Bush's approval rating is at 49 percent in the AP poll with 49 percent disapproving among all of those polled."

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/2005...

Even a 49% approval rating is about 48% too much.
