How can we force the War Lovers to JOIN UP? Not enough troops says Frist
Now that Frist is saying that the armed forces are stretched too thin in Iraq and elsewhere, how can we go about creating a movement to get all these Nascar worshiping, Coors swilling, cuntry western listening, Bush voting, non satan worshipping (all stereotypes depicted here are satire, but you get my point), Senator and Congress sons and daughters to JOIN UP?

I did my time, got drafted in 1971 and don't want MY SON who just turned 18 and DOESN'T want to go, so how can we get these BUSH VOTERS to GET THEIR ASSES SHOT UP and Save those poor Iraqis from "insurgents"?

Seriously, can we start a movement here? Takebackthemedia.com would be proud to perhaps host an Enlistment form and invite all these freepers etc to sign up or shut the fuck up..

Should we frequent malls and ask people if they support the war and then when they do, hand them an enlistment form and demand they sign up, maybe do it with a camera in hand to show the COWARDICE of the same BUSH VOTERS that their hero has.

I'm sick to death of these idiots. They need to find out what it's like to have shit running down their leg as bullets whiz past - might have an epiphany or two, don't you think?

Ideas?

Might make a good documentary.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm sick of the death for no reason while idiots cheer it on..

1. I'm glad I'm 35
and don't have an 18 year old son. I don't see how the draft can be avoided. Sadly, it will take a son getting drafted for these idiots to realize the error of their ways.

4. Correction...
...it will take their *own* son/daughter getting drafted to wake up and realize that mistake they've made since, as we all know, if it doesn't affect them directly, it doesn't matter .

2. I've already begun
Since before the election, whenever I see a young Bush supporter, I ask them, "what the heck are you doing here? Why aren't you in Iraq supporting your leader's cause?"

I think anyone who voted for Bush should then be willing to give up their sons and daughters, so that folks like us, who have opposed the actions of these criminals, don't have to send our sons and daughters.

5. The usual answer that I get when I ask...
"Why are you still here, instead of being in action in Iraq, when you are so much in suuport of the war?" (Which I alsways ask in my most innocent, inquisitive voice....is.....

"We have an All-Volunteer Army and everyone in the war in Iraq, WANTS to be there! They VOLUNTEERED!"

There is absolutely NO pushing for an answer on this question. The one being questioned merely stares with an uncomprehending look..."I mean..." they say..."didn't you HEAR ME?

I guess SOME answer beats NO answer...........

He serves me my sandwich at my favorite deli. He said, I can't, I have health problems. He was lying to me and he knew I knew. He was shamed and he was sorry.

43. Actually, the army isn't all volunteer, anymore.
Lots of people have been re-called via fine print on their discharge papers. Then there's the stop loss policy. Those soldiers are sick of Iraq. Some served their time already but were forced to return.

28. I carry enlistment forms & place them on the windshields of . . .
cars with W '04 stickers & a brief note, "Since you support Bush, put your money where your mouth is & enlist in his illegal war."

I also have this as part of my email signature:

Voted for Bush in 2004?
Put your money where your mouth is.
Support his illegal war & ENLIST!

3. LOL Bush / War Supporters actually stepping up to the plate!!??

I tell ya, I don't see it happening. Me and my future father in law were having a talk on this. He was one of the "advisors" in Vietnam in like 61 or 62, and I was in the Army in the early 90s. In the begining he was buying all the hoopla that Iraq and Saddam were threats, but now he sees this for what it is and we're both upset that buddies are dying out there for nothing.

But point being, he knows there has to be a draft if Bushco wants to keep this war going and is already looking at property in Costa Rica to send my fiancee's brother to (just turned 19) when it comes.

Y'know we all did our time for this country and it sucks seeing it go down the shitter like it is and having all these Chimp supporters talk shit to us for not blindly following this idiot and his excuse after excuse for why we're where we are at.

They either:

1. are disabled and can't do it or...

2. Call me names and say I'm unpatriotic.

All I know is, I have a 22 year old son who will fight in *'s war only over my dead body. When the draft comes, it should be repuke only.

"2. Call me names and say I'm unpatriotic."

I hear you, lost count of the times I have been called unpatriotic or un-American or even traitor for being vocal against the war and our Presidents policies.

My response usually is, "oh what unit did you serve in? I was in 1/3 SFG."

I hate and don't like to sound like I belittle those who didn't serve, but if you're going to be THAT vocal about military action to where you have to call anyone who thinks the opposite degrogitory terms....I don't feel bad about playing the "vet card".

says he will not go, even though both his parents are BIG bush supporters, and both support the war, and even the torture. When I ask the mother, "What will you do if he's drafted??" she tells me she will take him to Canada.

Hypocrites - as long as it is someone else's son dying in Iraq, the war is wonderful. I am growing to hate these people who I have been friends, and shared Christmas Eve with, for the last 8 years.

12. I'm a veteran, a 1970s era Marine
and I am also a high school teacher in a very, very RED area. So many of the people in my area support the war, but are not willing to go to Iraq, or send their children. Their idea of participation seems to be the yellow ribbons, flag flying, right-wing bumper stickers, etc., other people's children.... How this sickens me!

When I talk to my students about the war, they act as if I am some old crazed vet from the "Vietnam Era" who rants against "all the good we are doing" (their words, not mine) and is "brainwashed by the liberals". They have no conception that they may very well be drafted in the near future; and, when I point out to them the real likelihood of a draft, the boys seem to think they will be able avoid it somehow (well, most of these students are from rather well-to-do families and want to follow the Bu$h/Cheney example). I also have the other end of the spectrum: Those who think they will go to war and return home as heroes with a chest of medals (I have had three join the Marines who share this idea). I have also had one student who has returned from Iraq and now has a different approach to the war; he seems to understand what this "crazed old veteran" had been saying to them all along.

I work in a freeper wonderland (because I need this job, it pays rather well and I enjoy fighting from inside the belly of the beast) and only the four afore-mentioned students have actually put their butts where their words are. So, I guess that leaves 99.9% of my war-supporting neighbors as nothing more than propagandistic windbags.

My sister (a republican) told me at Christmas that she supports the war and Bu$hie, et al. I told her that I was going to speak to her as a decorated veteran and I said: "I love you, but may the souls of all the dead GIs and Iraqis haunt you for eternity for supporting this lie. Since you have never seen such things as death and serious injuries up close, I will tell you that when one has, one cannot support this war with a clear conscience, especially when it is for an OUTRIGHT LIE." She turned her back and walked away from me.

Read your bio, you're in SC? Are you in favor of the christian coalition's plan to take over SC and then secede? I wouldn't want to kick you out of your home but I like the idea of having the American Taliban in one place where we can keep an eye on them. We could build a wall around the united state of jesusland and not let them out without passports.

30. Yeah, born and raised here
No, I cannot stand the christian loonies who are so numerous here. However, since there are so many nut-cases here, there is also a good 'underground' of intelligent, progressive people.

To give you an idea of what I'm like.... Several years back, the Jehovah's Witnesses were making a nuisance of themselves by constantly knocking on my door. I solved the problem by answering the door naked (thank goodness it was summer); they never returned.

The only thing I can tell from your bio is that you are into tree hugging, that I do on a regular basis. I have even been known to scatter acorns and such about as I ride my bike to help repopulate the murdered forests. I have even taken part in larger scale replanting efforts.

If SC seceded again to form a christian wonderland, I would have to flee. I have already checked with friends elsewhere to see if they would provide me with asylum. Let them out with passports?!? Hell no!!! Put barbed wire on top of that fence, position guard towers at certain intervals and treat the place like a maximum security prison!

rabid defender of animal rights

Here's a few lines you might like:

Mourning in the Rainforest

"If trees could scream
no-one on earth

I remember seeing that poem on a poster, it showed natives kneeling over a huge tree stump in the rainforest. Some things stay with you.

but, we would have to completely dismantle the Savannah River Site (plutonium production location, but supposedly 'retired'), remove the USAF wing at Sumter (which most probably has nukes) and I think the US Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, which did have nukes, has already been dismantled.

No, I would not trust them with any type of weapons, much less nukes.

According to one fundie, even if a mistake was made in Iraq and innocent people were being murdered then it still does not matter.
This is because christians are already forgiven for their sins; past present and future. It sounds fantastic, but that is his belief.

The mall idea is good, but sporting events would also provide a lot of young, healthy candidates. Heck, maybe you can get a press pass "to film the sporting event" and canvass the concession stands. There's nothing like a few beers to work up extra courage to compliment their testosterone engorged bodies. :D

My second thought is to do a poll right here at DU designed to find volunteers to participate. The poll could ask young DUers with right wing families/friends who want to wake them up. I think if done with respect for their humanity, it could become a cathartic exercise as well as give yet another angle to a documentary.

The first idea has great potential since there will be lots of young men in the mood to boast and talk tough. Now to script the questions... :)

Edit: If you want to come to New Orleans and do it during Mardi Gras - when over a million, drunk youth will be everywhere in the streets - let me know. ;)

37. A Bush/war supporter
friend of my sons approached them at a party and accused them of being soft on national security because they supported Kerry. He gets his talking points from Rush so it wasn't too hard to take issue with him. My guys took it to him pretty good.

After pointing out that BushBot knew absolutely nothing about what he believe about National Security, my older one asked him when he would be enlisting since he was such a supporter of the troops, Bush, the war. BushBot replied that he couldn't since he had scoliosis. Upon further questioning by my older soon-to-be criminal prosecutor son, it was learned that this scolisis has not been diagnosed by a doctor, nor does it keep the BushBot off the ski slopes or off a surf board. This had to be a ROTFLMAO minute.

Younger son summed up the prosecutors remarks with a straight forward smackdown pointing out the obvious: that no matter what the BushBot said, he would never ever sign up, ever because there would always be some excuse. He could talk the talk but would never walk the walk.

Chickenhawks supporting chickenhawks. Birds of a feather flocking on the blood of others.

"Fundamentalists United Caring Kingdom, Yahweh Or Unsaved"...The Crusade

Here's the plan:

The "Islamists" are secretly pining away to BE Christians. Falwell and Robertson have both said so, and one of them just recently announced that GOD actually told him that the "mooslims" would be turning Christian in droves, in 2005.

Time's a'wasting and there's some heavy lifting to be done. Christian fundamentalists here and all over the world are very antsy these days as they open the windows of their "Rapture-Advent Calendar", and I think the time has come for them to get with the program.

Perhaps we could start a fund raising website to help them with their crusade. Frankly, they ALL pretty much need to start packing those shrouds, guns (gotta hunt, ya know),Toby Keith CDs,"W" bumperstickers, boots & stetsons. There are heathens by the millions, just waiting to be "saved", and our dear friends, the fundamentalists are duty-bound to save those souls.

We'll stay here, because someone's gotta pay the taxes to run this place, but the fundies who have pared back their tax burden to almost nothing, now HAVE that extra money for their "mission", and we will gladly see them off at the docks and airports. We should be prepared to help them though, so they can have a "successful mission"..

Perhaps we could call the website:

"Fundamentalists United Caring Kingdom, Yahweh Or Unsaved"

It's their DUTY to "save mankind" by converting all those desperate-for-salvation 'folks' over "there".. We all know how dedicated these people are, and how willing they are to fight, if necessary, so they are the logical ones to do this. These folks also have a sublime grasp on history, and love to re-enact historical events. They cherish "heritage", and even have a foundation dedicated to it, as proof of their zeal..

They are our only hope now, and we should help them, Americans, Australians, British, German...all of them coming together, descending on the middle east, to do God's work would be a joy to behold. They could finally lift the veil of victim-hood, and step out into the light. For years the "librul" media has demeaned them, and they could get no commanding positions in government. They have had to settle for control of the newspapers, radio, television, cable, the presidency, the senate, the regulatory agencies, the house and the supreme court. This could be their bright and shining moment when people could , at last, see them as a movement (although some HAVE compared them to "a movement"), worthy of such a monumental task.

Since they are so eager to mix it up in the middle east, it would also give many of the soldiers, whom they love and support so much, a breather and a chance to return to the families THEY left behind.

No one wants to be "Left Behind", but I am sure that the non-fundamentalists would gladly bear the burden of keeping the home fires burning while these Glorious God-Warriors are away saving souls.

I will put a candle in the window, in a show of solidarity..

Onward, Christian Soldiers....Let's Roll !

46. Symbolman, you are so talented, you could do a lot to make
...it happen. Here's my idea. You create one of your wonderful flash videos, with music, images, the whole nine yards....but with a couple of differences. Play it from the perspective of a rabid rightwing patriot. Not snarky--totally sincere, uplifting, kinda like a Nina Wertmuller propaganda piece for Hitler.

Your images should include martial and UPLIFTING music, pictures of heroic looking servicemembers, Bush in a halo, and so on, and push the theme that if YOU LOVE AMERICA, YOU MUST ENLIST. IF YOU LOVE GEORGE BUSH, YOU MUST DO YOUR PART. Freedom isn't free, and all that. Then, you post it on a bunch of rightwing sites. What are they gonna do? Start saying "Hell no, I won't go?" It would be funny as hell to see the shake-out from that sort of approach. Put yer money where yer mouth is!

Don't put your name to it, though--create an alter-ego. Talk about discombobulation!!!

55. Damn this is a good idea
As soon as I get some time I'm going to do this - it's hilarious, watch them FLEE!

All good stuff, it really would be fun to interview like Swamprat says at sporting events with a stack of Enlistment papers and catch them all on film, all puffed up with Bush glory and then backing out, over and over..

might get my ass kicked, but it might even be worth it :)

I'm going to think about how to make this stealth flash.. insidious, I love it!

50. Stealing shamelessly from Daily Kos
Isn't it time for the 101st Fighting Keyboardists or as I prefer to think of them the 101st Fighting Dittoheads to grab their cammies and M16s and saddle up for Iraq to show them "ragheads" who's the boss?!

51. The Bush Twins Should....
Make a National effort to enlist and lead all of those in favor of the war.

The MSM could get behind the Bush effort by making a 'reality show' to see how many Bush supporters each Bush daughter could first enlist, then lead into war, and finally serve in the war in the most hostile areas for the entire duration war.

Come on Bush family, supporters, and MSM, let's get behind this National effort to "Bring'em On!"

52. I was drafted in 1968. I don't want to see another draft but I think we
are headed in that direction.

My thinking is that we need to hit these folks where it hurts before they will wake up to what they voted for.

Imagine a country where your kid or you are taken from your home and dumped into a war that you didn't really believe you would have to fight in. That's what it will take to get through to them.

I remember a show that Tweety had from some university and was asking students if they supported the war and if they said they did he asked them if they were willing to fight it. None of them said they would be willing to fight it.

The right is made up of the privileged and the stupid. The privileged will always be against us but the stupid could get educated and join us but it will take they pain and grief before they learn.
