Reflective Daschle urges Dems to 'stand up' for their beliefs
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 06:02 PM by RBHam
The following article made me want to puke. Daschle was the one who minded the store as the Dems in Congress rolled over for the Bush Crime Syndicate and personally made sure to do Bush and Cheney's bidding and "limit" any Congressional investigations into the truth behind 9-11, the Reich Wing's long awaited "new Pearl Harbor"...

Tom Daschle, sir, you are part of the problem. You rolled over for these thugs and how did they repay you? By sending House Majority leader Bill Frist off to South Dakota to make sure you lost your re-election bid. And now? Oh. Right. You don't seem to concerned with all the offers for phoney baloney jobs from top "investment bankers and law firms" pouring in. What a prick. Democratic principles? The ones you followed? You know, cozying up to Fascists and Theocrats and begging them not to abuse you? Good Lord. No wonder the Democratic Party is a joke.

Reflective Daschle urges Dems to 'stand up' for their beliefs

The Hill News

Former Senate Minority Leader Sen. Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) is urging fellow Democrats to stay true to their party’s principles without bending to tough new tactics contemplated by Republicans.

In a telephone interview from his home in Northwest Washington on his last day in office, after a career spanning 26 years in Congress, Daschle acknowledged that the “obstructionist” label was a factor in his being driven from office by Republican John Thune.

But Daschle, who just turned 57, said he hopes fellow Democrats will not back down as a result of his loss. “I think it would be the wrong lesson to learn from my experience — somehow not to stand up for what you believe and do the right thing while you’re here,” he said.

Asked whether the Democrats need to change direction after losing seats in both the House and Senate, as well as their bid for the White House, Daschle said it was “essential that we continue to find ways to make it a stronger and more vigorous party than it has been.” But he added, “I don’t think that it means morphing into a second Republican Party or some entity that is not reflective of our philosophical and political approach.”

Daschle made his comments on the eve of a trip to New York City, where he said he plans to meet with several investment-banking and law firms about job possibilities.

GAG ALERT!...

3. Tom Who?
Oh, Tom Daschle the Compromiser? He's what? Telling Democrats to resist the Republicans, to not compromise with them?

I wonder if his wife, Linda, is still raking in the cash by lobbying for American Airlines at the expense of the American taxpayers?

6. A classic example of Do as I say not as I do
Jeeze, even in this article he is allowing the media to tack the label "obstructionist" on him.

9. He should be proud to be an obstructionist
But of course, he hasn't been doing a good job of obstructing fascism and corporate rule.

12. Was Bob Dole an obstructionist?
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 08:08 PM by flaminbats
Based on Daschle's logic, Dole should have lost Kansas to Clinton in 1996 for being an obstructionist. Like Dole, Kerry ran against an incumbent..but why did John do so much better?

Perhaps one man's obstructionist is another's patriot...

14. The Bushies kicked Tom around...
...and treated him like shit. So how did he run his 'last' campaign? He actually showed images of Bush and bragged that he 'worked with him' to 'get things done'.

He seems like a nice guy...but he's not a great leader and shouldn't work in politics.
