Do you think Fox will ever respect DU? Do you think it would ever draw attention to a non-controversial post?

Should we eliminate controversy, and hope they approve of us, or at least not laugh at us, so we can natter away in ineffectual respectibilty?

5. It's not like you can divide the world into FOX and DU

There are lots of people in between the two. And while I don't care about getting good press on FOX, I do care about what people who vote think of us. I also think it's a pity that the main stream media is going to pick up one extreme post and pretend like it's all of our view points. When a few posters mock the death of Pat Tilman, for example, it reflects back on all of us.

On the other hand this is a discussion forum; you can't have a discussion without various views being expressed. So while sometimes I read posts I wish people wouldn't post, I think they have every right to post them.

To the contrary, it is an island of progressive speech where RW talking points are not tolerated. Disruption, even by liberals is also frowned upon, and some of the more ludicrous conspiracy theories could be construed as disruption. They certainly don't give new posters an accurate impression of what DU is about.

The problem is separating the plausible from the implausible and whether the mods would actually want to get involved in making such determinations.
