I Can't Live Here Anymore: Pics From Iraq
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article2604.htm

I am crying.
I am ashamed of what my country has done in my name.
I can not live in my skin knowing that MY tax dollars make
what is depicted in these pictures possible.
I may not be able to stop it, but I don't have to pay for it.

27. Democrats also part of cabal responsible for Iraq
When you say that the Bush cabal should never forget the people they have killed you include the Democrats who gave him a blank slate on Iraq. Specifically don't forget those Democrats who are campaigning to replace him such as Gephardt who stood with Bush.

2. I know exactly how you feel.
What we did over there is horrible and that the images of it are not shown in our mainstream media is a disgrace.

Here is another link I picked up here on DU, warning, not for the faint hearted.

3. We did this!!
No matter what bullshit argument that they further try to justify this invasion, just remember the innocents that we slaughtered in order for bush to prop up his poll numbers and for his buddies to steal Iraq's oil. When they are crying big crocodile tears over 9/11, remind them that we have done far worse since then our selves. Where are their tears for the victims of Bush Co.

22. Aaron Brown uses alot of sarcasm
I watched his program and Canadian TV during this time and I don't ever recall him saying something like that. But still, if he had, it was likely tongue-in-cheek. Are we having fun yet? That's the way he subtly expresses his disgust.

26. Let's also not forget Tom Brokaw saying,
shortly following the invasion, "within a week we will own Iraq."

Sure has been a loooonnng week, hasn't it Tom?

Also Dan Rather on David Letterman saying that Bush is the commander in chief and wherever he (*) wants me (Dan) to go I am there.

Please tell me how the corporate controlled media in the US differs from state controlled media in other parts of the world?

12. Did I do everything I could to prevent this?
People of Iraq, I dare not even ask for forgiveness. While this was happening to you, I swam in sparkling cool water and ate fresh bread and laughed with my family and listened to music. When I had the slightest headache I had a pill. When I was sleepy I had clean, sweet bedding. Even in my modest surroundings I had comfort and safety.

Did I do enough to stop this ache from coming to Iraq? Apparently not. I'm shamed and humbled. I should have done more.

15. I note that you support Wesley Clark
In light of your comment on this thread, I was wondering if you saw the General's recent appearance on Late Night with David Letterman?

I can't find a transcript and don't want to misrepresent General Clark's words, but I think that if you can find a transcript or tape of the interview, you may find it and, specifically, his comments about Iraq to be interesting.

Do you mean General Franks? He was on last week.
Franks was definately giving out the propaganda.

But I don't recall Wesley Clark ever appearing on Letterman.

19. Please don't forget that we did this too
Our Karma will be for more than what Bush did.

http://www.web-light.nl/VISIE/extremedeformities.html

In an act of stark cruelty, the US dominated Sanctions Committee refuses to permit Iraq to import the clean-up equipment that they desperately need to decontaminate their country of the Depleted Uranium ammunition that the US fired at them. Approximately 315 tons of DU dust was left by the use of this ammunition. The Sanctions Committee also refuses to allow the mass importation of anti-cancer treatments, which contain trace amounts of radio-isotopes, on the grounds that these constitute '...nuclear materials..'

<snip>

Additional pictures were taken by Dr. Siegwart Horst-Gunther, President of the International Yellow Cross. Most appeared in his 1996 book "URANIUM PROJECTILES - SEVERELY MAIMED SOLDIERS, DEFORMED BABIES, DYING CHILDREN" (Published by AHRIMAN - Verlag, ISBN: 3-89484-805-7). The book is a documentary record of DU ammunition after-effects, and they were taken between 1993 and 1995. Dr. Gunther also supplied me with additional photographs from his unpublished collection, some of which feature the birth deformities being experienced by Western Gulf war veterans' children. I have asked Dr. Gunther's permission for his pictures to be treated as 'Public Domain' and copyright free. He has agreed and you may reproduce them as you see fit.

Both the Pentagon and the British Ministry of Defence officially deny that there is any significant danger from exposure to DU ammunition. And whilst it is conceivable that the US led attacks on Iraq's nuclear power stations could be a contributory factor, most reseachers point to DU as the most likely source of both deformities and cancers. The rising number of cases in Iraq, particularly in the South where the greatest concentration of DU was fired, is simply staggering. Iraqi physicians have never encountered anything like it, and have made the perfectly reasonable point that similar increases in cancer and deformities were experienced in Japan after the two US atomic bomb attacks. Cancer has increased between 7 and 10 fold; deformities between 4 and 6 fold.

<snip>

On a more personal level, I have heard stories of visitors to Iraq who spoke with mid-wives there. These mid-wives are purported to have said they no longer look forward to births as.... "We don't know what's going to come out."

The pictures below, which are extremely disturbing, show exactly what does.

I don't believe in sitting quietly by while this is going on, just as I don't believe that I am responsible for Bush and his thugs crimes.

Screw k a r m a ........... i want to fix things now. Perhaps a liberal with teflon military credentials can help us do that. If he does, will you continue with your stance of contempt?

32. Screw fate, screw karma?
I guess that means "screw responsibility" as well.
And you think your patriotic little nationalist general has a problem with "collateral damage"?

I bet he would have NO problem causing the same kind of damage in say North Korea or perhaps Iran?

Teflon military credentials will only leave the door open to further military actions.

What this country needs is a candidate who will act for peace, and Clark is NOT such a candidate.

33. Did I say screw responsibility?
Oh yes, that's right, that was just your empty ass assertion. Your trolling comments on Wesley Clark are nearly below mention. I will humor the less among those lurking though and rebuke you.

your patriotic little nationalist general

Mr Clark is not
a. mine
b. small
c. a "nationalist" but has rather promoted internationalism

The one point I will give you? patriotic.
How very sinister.

I think Wes Clark has spent a great deal more time in thought over "collateral damage" than you have in critical thought (without knee-jerk responses) in regards to any conflict.

I bet he would have NO problem causing the same kind of damage in say North Korea or perhaps Iran?

Obviously you have been blinded by Clarks uniform and medals, and you have not listened to a WORD he has said. How progressive of you.

Teflon military credentials will only leave the door open to further military actions.

And you think a lack of credentials is somehow inhibiting the current goup of thugs? Really?

What this country needs is a candidate who will act for peace

Finally you speak well !

General Wesley Clark is that candidate.

20. War is a nasty business

First, understand that Im against this Iraqi war...

However, war is a nasty business and you cannot base your opinion on the justness of a war, by the pictures that come out of it.

Every nation on earth has gone to war at some point, and if you were to view images from any of those, they would all be shocking.

Im quite sure that the American Revolution had some shocking images as well, even if color photos were not available yet. Same for any "just" war that you care to imagine.

Its the same with the abortion protestors who hold up pics of fetuses etc. yeah, they are disgusting, but thats really not an effective argument.

All Im saying is that yeah, its pretty shocking, but to convince the rest of the world, we need to be objective and not emotional.

Nonetheless, the photos are shocking and horrible

31. first the rest of the world doesn't need
convincing, it's the American people.

Secondly, pictures are a part of the story. People need to know about Iraqi casualty numbers, they need to know about napalm, depleted uranium etc. Do they for instance, know that children are still dying from cluster bombs?

That is the wonderful thing, one of the fundemental freedoms not even fAshcroft has not been able to obliterate. Perhaps you should take advantage of your opportunities while you can.

Yes, it will be harder for those of us who stay for the good fight to make this a better place. I am sure it was Michael Moore's intention that everyone who read his book would leave the country. Yes, Michael Moore did not write his book because he loves America and wanted to point out it's faults and find rememdies.......... I am sure. Moore must hate America............ after all, that's what FOX says.:freak:
