Bush to announce WMD find in Sunday speech.
Just last weekend the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said on MTP (or some other Sunday talk show) that there would be an announcement about what WMDs have been discovered at an appropriate time. With the Chimp dropping like a lead balloon and the WH desperately trying to court the UN, how much better could the timing be?

1. Okay, Brown does business in Iraq now
because that's the only way WMDs got in there, short of some terrorist group with access to wmds setting up shop and being raided.

24. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs even said
something like its hard to find a garbage can of anthrax in a country the size of California. He didnt say how easy it would be to plant one but I guess that would have been stating the obvious.

There will be truckloads of documents which also prove the existence of a weapons program, which will prove to the US sheeple that there was a reason to invade. Shrub may even bring Powells test tube with him for emphasis. The graves of those that Chimps father allowed to be killed will also be featured with the implication that those people died while the UN was debating the necessity of an attack. The rest of the world will laugh themselves silly at the pathetic display.

5. No way
For many reasons:

1) There are no WMDs. The White House line has just changed AGAIN to "the Iraqis fooled us". Counting on our short memories regarding weapons vs. "programs" didn't work for them, so now they are just saying we were duped by the evil Saddamites, in hopes that it will finally just go away.

2) Bush is a drooling circus chimp who can't tie his own shoes or read a single sentence off of a teleprompter without screwing it up. Karl Rove knows this and he would never trust this simpleton to deliver such an important announcement.

2a) And in the highly unlikely event that he did, Bush has been proven before the American people to be a liar again and again and again and again. No former supporter soured by his lies would trust him again on this topic. It would be far better for Rove to have the Faux News network serve up this steaming pile of horseshit, as indeed they are professionals at this, and they preach every day to the already converted.

3) Bush will not say anything of importance in his Sunday message because he never says anything of importance. Fifty percent of the time he's completely incoherent, while the other 50% of the time he screws up so utterly, the whore media has to scramble to change his words and "explain" what he supposedly just said.

Sunday's speech is an obvious desperate attempt to put the little chimp in front of the cameras since he is being beaten up around the world, and 8 viable Democratic candidates for President ripped his ass to shreds on TV two nights ago (with 5 more luscious evenings to come). For 18 minutes, he will be folksy and aw-shucks-lil-ol-me, and he will remind us how he has restored peace and "Democracy" to Iraq and made our nation safer in the wake of "9-11". He will complain that the chocolate-making nations are not doing their part in the UN. He will then ask for another $70 million for Cheney's company Halliburton to finish their good work in Iraq.

Relax. Watch a game. Go have sex with someone hot. It's the same old same old.

6. if the idiot were speaking for more than 18 minutes
then maybe I could see it being about wmd, but this would be so big, and the words are so complex, Bush would need at least an hour to get through the speech.

9. True.
Bush will not say anything of importance in his Sunday message because he never says anything of importance.

Why would Bush put himself on the line? If an announcement were to be made, Condi and Rumsfeld would do it on the Sunday Shows first. Thus, preventing Bush from having to explain or discuss big words.

On all your counts.

I look at this speech as another photo-op-disguised-as-press conference/policy speech.

No substance whatsoever.

None.

I'm curious as to which stations will carry this tripe live.

8. He won't be announicing WMD's
Changenow nailed it on the head in his original post: ...the WH desperately trying to court the UN. The upcoming speech isn't for American, it's for Europe, in an effort to get some more support.

From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
President Bush's decision, reportedly made Tuesday in a meeting with Secretary of State Colin Powell, coincided with the release of a Congressional Budget Office study that examined various scenarios for an effective U.S. presence in Iraq.

Edited on Sat Sep-06-03 10:06 AM by hexola
They have been waiting to play this WMD card for a while. Now Bush bashing is becoming mainstream...The rips on the President at the debates sent a signal to BushCo. They have maxed out the 9-11 Partiotism thing...Time to drop some "good news" bombs...take out certain groups of naysayers.

"Incoming...!"

Evidence of WMD = )BOOM( =

Saddam Hussien Captured = )BOOM( =

Osama Bin Laden Captured = )BOOM( =

Diversion of Major Terrorist Attack = )BOOM( =

Anthrax terrorist captured = )BOOM( =

"Sir...we've lost half our brigade...suggest retreat."

Then he just has to keep the economy together...

Watch out...they will soon be making the case for SUCCESS in Iraq. And - I think they can probably create a very strong argument that the entire Iraq venture was a complete and resounding success. Lately I've noticed a few celeberties mentioning being in Iraq lately. They even took our chumpy House Rep Billy (son of Bud) Shuster(R-PA) over there. So I wonder how truly dangerous it is. You're probably pretty safe as long as you aren't dressed in full combat fatigues.

13. I'm thinking more along the lines of
the Liberation tactic. Thinking maybe he'll go to central wardrobe and pull out the compassionate Jesus robes for the occasion.

Intensive pre-speech coaching will include: don't lean, no deer in the headlights look, limit the strut, control the I can do anything I want and who cares what you think gloating, if you smirk or show any sign that na na na na booboo is about to come out of your mouth- I'll wipe it off your face with another pretzel. Think earnest. No, george, not Ernest goes to camp. Guardian of freedom, protector of people, with just a tinge of holier than thou. Now, get out there, calm the troubled waters and get reselected!

With a deep sigh to convey the weight of world on his very own shoulders - he'll give a 'shining the light of gather round and whattsamattaU if you don't (- leave the guns take the cannoli -) Johnny Appleseed of freedom, George the Good, trust me, it was never about the weapons, I'm so wonderful my middle initial is 'W', don't listen to the bad press' speech

something like this:

"We took the lead to do what had to be done to rid the world of this evil dictator - (insert gassed his own people, mass graves, 911, hate our freedom references here) - freed the Iraqi people (insert resolve, smoke 'em out, got the bad guys on the run coalition praise here).

We've accomplished all the heavy lifting (insert self congratulations and troop praise here) and the people of Iraq are free from this evil regime - we are now calling on the world to unite and help the people of Iraq become the country they could only dream of prior to our just and noble intervention and liberation (insert peace loving country, war as a last alternative, sadness over losses, but we did what we had to do here?).

Great strides have been made in that direction (insert trading card names and some blah blah compassionate rebuild stuff here), but ALL of the people of the world need to support this effort now (insert for us or against us here).

We are calling on the UN to get their legs back and stand with us as we follow the path of ridding the world of anyone who wears a black hat (insert love your neighbor, Clinton's penis brought us so much trouble, but we're recovering now, so open and dump your grand children's wallets, if you don't, you don't have a heart as big as mine, by the way - I'm the only one who can save the world so vote for me, watch this drive - oops, I meant God bless America stuff here)."

enough- I'm about to lose my lunch from a week ago last Tuesday. I think if weapons are mentioned at all, they will be North Korea's and whoever else needs to be taken out next vast terrorist axis of evil conspiracy list (they're everywhere, but we've got 'em on the run).

But, don't quote me. I could really, really be wrong here.

even if they find some - if it was that hard to find them, then where was the imminent threat against America that justified a pre-emptive invasion?

16. Expectations have not yet been sufficiently lowered.
This madministration relies on hyperbole and deceit to 'motivate' the electorate. In order to propel its agenda of rape, it preached consentual sex and reproduction. In order to propel its agenda of pillage, it preached generosity and sacrifice. In order to propel its agenda of conquest and enslavement, it preached threat and liberation. In every instance, any subsequent attempt to measure accomplishment was preconditioned with a prolonged revisionist lowering of presumed expectations.

Whenever this madministration finally proclaims 'success', its only after the bar is lowered so far that snakes could crawl over it -- and they're met with the facade of celebration from sycophantic interests. I don't yet see the bar lowered enough. Actual WMDs will not be found. Whatever they 'find' will be intended to exceed the lowered expectations. Un(?)fortunately, they were too 'successful' in convincing their sycophants that deployable Iraqi WMDs existed. Announcing anything less than actual WMDs at this point, and until mob expectations are sufficiently lowered, would erode their 'base' far too much.

The 'timing' of his recitation (not a 'speech') is the 2nd anniversary of 9-11. I predict Junior* will attempt to resurrect the psychopatriotic reactionaries by some commemoration in the coming week. He'll probably accompany this visceralism with calls for even more surrender of public liberties and riches for the benefit of the powerful.

I think this is about the money.

This will be a speech all about how great we're doing, bringing freedom to the world and seeking out the evildoers and terrists and all.

But the bottom line is he's going to hit us up for 65 or 70 billion.

Insist that your children and grandchildren watch, so they can later say they remember seeing their college educations, future financial security and way of life vanish before their eyes.

23. 2 things--& I don't think Americans care of they do find WMDs anymore
First--I seriously doubt now if a whole shitpile of WMDs were found that it would make any difference to the 'direction' Bush's popularity is going (down) because it STILL doesn't address the problem of: gee, Mr. Bush, when the fuck are we getting out of there and stop bleeding people and money over there!!! In other words, a "find" doesn't excuse the "I had shit for a plan of what we were going to do after the war".

Second--I agree with poster who said this is a "European" directed speech. I saw Andre Mitchell (bless her heart--one who isn't a media whore in my opinion and one who has a hatred for Bush). She appears rarely; but she appeared yesterday to talk about Powells speech at Georgetown. She immediately pointed out that it was for consumption abroad and the UN memembers, etc. in reply to the French and German "up your ass reply" to the resolution. She looked into the camera and introduced a clip of his speech by saying something like "Powell was attempting to tell the world we are NOT ARROGANT"....as she remained on camera for about 3 seconds before they got the tape rolling, the look on her face was priceless. She could hardly hold back a laugh and seemed happy as shit that she was getting out the message that these "indeed, arrogant bastards are scrambling".........

27. At this juncture the press may even point out
that even if Saddam had these weapons the policy of containment worked and there was no reason to invade when we did. That may be too much to hope for but anything is possible. Either way the rest of the world can add 2+2 and figure that out for themselves so as an International appeal there is almost nothing the boy king could say to change world opinion.

I take that back, if Chimp went on the air and admitted it was a mistake to go it alone and that US intelligence was flawed the both the amount of effort it would take to conquer Iraq and in the nature of the threat it would definitely improve the world view. It would address the arrogance issue and perhaps generate some sympathy. The world may view the attempt cynically but it could convince them to help anyway. But there is absolutely not a chance in the world of that happening but it would be his only hope.

In the last few months, and at the direction of the BFEE propaganda machine, so many Bushites have switched their tune to, "It wasn't about the WMDs, we rid the world of a monstrous dictator."

Of course, if Bush did pull some BS evidence out of his dingleberry cellar, that wouldn't stop them from gloating, but of course their puffery will ring that much more hollow.

Here's the case-

Every single Iraqi piece of paper that mentioned the word "nuclear" or "weapon(s)" or "mass" or "of" or "destruction" will be shown stacked up.

The administration will explain that Saddam was preparing to drop the paper (Strapped to pallets, silly) on major US population centers.

See how it all ties together?

where many football fans are also thoughtful people there are a bunch more that are thrilled about Rushs new job. The simple fact that ESPN thinks Rush will attract viewers explains why Chimp tries to exploit that time. But what ole Whistle Ass doesnt realize that he is preaching to the choir and he needs to convince those who are starting to see through him, and they may not be good old boys.
