Pastor charged in shopping centre carols stoush

A pastor from a church in Bunbury in Western Australia's south-west has been charged after Christmas carollers allegedly blocked the path of people trying to access a local shopping centre.

The Potters House Christian Church has been preaching on local streets for 21 years.

But as Christmas shoppers flocked to the city centre, some made complaints that they felt intimidated by the Christian group's behaviour.

Council rangers asked a group of 30 parishioners to move away from a local shopping centre but they refused.

Police were called in and Senior Sergeant Geoff Fuller says the group was asked to move because they were upsetting customers.

"They were blocking the path of shoppers who were attending the centre and being a bit intimidatory," he said.

He says Pastor Ross Alexander Hounslow was eventually charged for refusing to give police his name.
