Let's thank this website for "exposing" liberal celebs!
Edited on Tue Dec-14-04 03:28 PM by UdoKier
http://www.celiberal.com/index.php

Here's the e-mail I just wrote to these McCarthyite thugs:

Dear "Celiberal"

This is a great way to know which performers are supporting good
progressive causes, and I will make my support of them known with my
entertainment dollars! I'm going to forward your site's
address to everybody I know (all liberals!) and make sure they buy
the movies, watch the shows, and listen to the music performed by our
most committed and patriotic liberal celebrities!

Turns out right-wingers actually ARE good for something! Thanks again!

Udokier in SF

Please let them know how grateful you are too!

he he he...

On edit:

Here is another similar site and its address.

And another:

(couldn't find the address)

I really think that will genuinely make them furious - whereas most "hatemail" (hate = opposite sides in this case) is laughed at in geenral.

I mean, they said they'd post both anti-American AND anti-Bush comments - I, for one, find that a very even-handed approach.

anyone who has spoken publicly in support of those in military service...most aren't regressives (though some are)...they are doing what all of us are doing...hoping that these deadly adventures designed by the house of B* are over soon so that our service people can come home as soon as possible.

73. if a celebrity says anything moderate, they get put on "rightie list"
Ann Margret got put on the Rightie list solely because she supports veterans. Wow supporting veterans is so extreme right, huh.

Why Dave Barry got put on the rightie list, I don't know. In the whole interview, he did say that "Clinton is a putz" but nothing else he said indicated he'd be right wing.

62. NRA and Micheal Moore ...

What is amazing is that right wingers have never SEEN Bowling for Columbine. They think that Moore is anti-gun. They couldn't be farther from the truth.

But they TELL their synchophants that Moore is anti-gun so they won't go see the movie and get the REAL message. It's the same message as "Canadian Bacon" and "Fahrenheit 9/11". The message is that we're sold a "culture of fear".

75. Yahtzee!
The day after I watched "Bowling" I talked to my religious-rightie friend at work (who, believe it or not, actually is a very smart and a genuinely nice person). I told him I saw it and asked if he thought it was anti-gun. Naturally, he did. I said, "Have you seen it?" Naturally, he hadn't, but he said, "I don't have to read Mein Kampf to know that Hitler was bad." I said, "Why not? You should." I busted his chops a little by telling him that it's better to be informed than to assume an understanding.

I went on to tell him that BFC was in fact NOT a movie that railed against gun ownership, but rather one that examined the mindless fear that exists throughout American culture. I didn't change his mind about Moore, but I could see he was digesting the message. He is a thinker, I'll give him that.

I too was surprised when I watched the film; I was expecting it to be very pro-gun control, and it's definitely NOT. It doesn't advocate ANY gun control legislation at all; in fact, its biggest villain is Bill Clinton!

45. He's not a libertarian, not a liberal, not a Repuke...he's a curmudgeon...
...a cynic...an alert observer of life around him. He routintely trashes all politicians and political movements, and claims to have stopped voting some time ago.

He doesn't bash the environment; he bashes people who take their environmentalism too, too personally and seriously. In fact, he pretty much bashes "people" all the time. He's been quoted as saying he hates groups of people...virtually all organizations, clubs, movements, etc. Individuals can be interesting. So he doesn't really think that environmentalists (*as a movement*, not individually) are really worthy of any particular reverence...in fact...he thinks their goals are pretty silly. A sample:

"The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through all kinds of things worse than us. Been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sun spots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles...hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worlwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages...And we think some plastic bags, and some aluminum cans are going to make a difference? The planet...the planet...the planet isn't going anywhere. WE ARE!

We're going away. Pack your shit, folks. We're going away. And we won't leave much of a trace, either. Thank God for that. Maybe a little styrofoam. Maybe. A little styrofoam. The planet'll be here and we'll be long gone. Just another failed mutation. Just another closed-end biological mistake. An evolutionary cul-de-sac. The planet'll shake us off like a bad case of fleas. A surface nuisance."

I get a kick out of the guy...but I still recycle. :)

63. Send stars to rhetoric school ..

Well, you won't get much play when you call the US the bad guys. Yes, we are all collectively responsible. But in terms of rhetoric, you need to provide a safety zone for current and would be allies to your way of thinking.

It's "The Bush administration are NOT the good guys. They're bad for the America and they're bad for the world!!!!"

Very few things are either "all good" or "all bad". I don't know how you would assign such a complex label to a country as a whole without alienating it's occupants.

What is amazing to me is that some liberals will tiptoe gently around the egos of foreign nations in admirable diplomatic fashion. Then they will hammer their entire nation and impune the intelligence and lifestyles of the very people they would like to convince of their way of thinking.

Aim for the officers, leave the civilians alone!!!!

64. Thouroughly impressed with Alec Baldwin ...

He's a great actor. He's an awesome public speaker and he's VERY knowledgeable on the issues.

While he is primarly a dramatic actor, the times he's been on SNL he was funnier than the entire cast combined. The guy is just plain awesome.

BTW, anytime you see a comedian on a "freeper list", it's probably a mistake. Comedians typically have the ability to be introspective and self-critical. This is a fundamental skill that most freepers lack.

The exception here is Colin Quinn. Though, he's not funny, so technically you can't call him a "comedian". ;-)

35. Love this site. Bookmarked it for reference!
goos photos too.

Some of my favorites:

Edward Norton

"As an actor I know in my mind, watching him , what a low-quality mind he has. Because I've been doing this since I was 5 years old, I know when a person is saying words that aren't their own -- and it's apparent as it could possibly be to me that he's a mouthpiece, and not even a good mouthpiece. Reagan was a B-movie actor, but at least he had the ability to touch certain emotional notes. Bush is just utterly incapable of it."

Sean Penn

"I think that people like the Howard Sterns, the Bill O'Reillys and to a lesser degree the bin Ladens of the world are making a horrible contribution . I'd like to trade O'Reilly for bin Laden. is a grumpy, self-loathing joke."

"There's a long history of people who capitalize on the lowest common denominator of people's impulses. Adolf Hitler being one of them. Not everybody wants to hit the wall in a violent rage and break their knuckles, so he does it for them....

"These guys--Joe McCarthy, Bill O'Reilly--die like everyone else. And when they do their legacy is one of damaging the spirit of good things, and they become rather broken, pathetic figures. And it is going to happen to him."

Woody Harrelson

"The war against terrorism is terrorism. The whole thing is just bullsh*t."

Tim Robbins

"In the 19 months since 9-11, we have seen our democracy compromised by fear and hatred. Basic inalienable rights, due process, the sanctity of the home have been quickly compromised in a climate of fear. A unified American public has grown bitterly divided, and a world population that had profound sympathy and support for us has grown contemptuous and distrustful, viewing us as we once viewed the Soviet Union, as a rogue state."

87. Heh heh
I've seen Michael J. Fox on a righties list before, when he clearly is a liberal and he supported Kerry in the election.

Know why they put him on the righties list? The CHARACTER he played in that sitcom in the 80s was a republican!!

How STUPID can they get????? LOL!

I clicked on the link in the text for "Celebrity Liberal Whine Rack," and my browser slowed way down. I glanced up at the progress line (using Opera) and it said "connecting to www.georgewbush.com" (for the banner ad on the site, I guess.)

Now, I know I'm paranoid. But if I had clicked directly on the link from the original post here, instead of copying the link and pasting into a new page, would my IP address have been logged by georgebush.com as coming from DU? (Or was it anyway? I know nuffink about all this referrer stuff.)

on edit: realised that it connects there when you click on the main link for the site itself as well

50. CARLIN!
Q: You're known as a very liberal comic. Are you trying to change people's political views when you go out there? Do you have an underlying agenda?

A: No. First of all, I'm not liberal. I'm just about (being) anti-United States. I don't like the way this country operates. I think we've ruined this place. And I think it's largely because of businessmen. And businessmen are not liberals. So if that makes me a liberal, then that's just an association. It's not a choice. ...

GOD I LOVE CARLIN! "no, i'm not liberal, I'm anti-United States"...thank you very much...badaboom, badabing!

hahaha...they made Capriati a Republican..hahaha...

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. -- At Jennifer Capriati's request, the 1999 Outkast song "Bombs Over Baghdad'' was played on the stadium public-address system before her most recent match at the Nasdaq-100 Open.

"I like the song, and I wanted to support the troops,'' Capriati said Tuesday through a WTA Tour spokesman.

She requested an OUTKAST song...Outkast is not Republican music! MORONS!

61. Rev. Maynard, testifying... hehe...
"...George W. Bush is an extremely evil person, and what he is doing is going to bring us down. He is going to make it very difficult for me to travel around the world because I am an American, and people will look at me in exactly the same way they used to look at Germans when they were traveling in the Fifties, right after World War II. We are living in McCarthyism, The Third Reich, and people don't even realize it.

Look at the events of September 11. The person who profited from that was the President of the United States-the same one who was not elected by the people but instead by a fault in the electoral system. His public opinion was at an all-time low, so he benefited from it. His family's oil, war, and weapons interests all benefited. And everyone was so scared that they willingly gave up their civil rights, so that if anyone discovers how evil this guy is, they can't do anything about it.

It really amazes me that the American people are just blindly letting this go on. They are not even considering the possibility that their government could be lying to them. It is absolutely nauseating."

Susan Saradon said ...

"I'm tired of being labelled anti-American because I ask questions."

This is one of the quotes they use to show how ignorant celebrities are. I think doubting the value of this statement reflects more on their intelligence.

And yes, labeled is misspelled, but that is how it was listed on their site.

67. I emailed the boycott liberalism site.
I told them thank you for listing the celebs that support progressive causes! This is the reply I got:

"Sorry-

It won't work- the majority of liberals are apathetic- that is why they are
liberal. Do you think the millions of minorities that vote liberal in the inner
cities are going to websites such as mine- no!

I insist that liberals boycott my site- I don't care. Fox News is #1 for a
reason- conservatives are not apathetic- that is why conservative books way
outsell liberal books and get higher ratings in radio!

Another example- I asked a friend who did you vote for- he said John Kerry- he
has never watched a polital debate show and does not bother to watch news
shows.

It is the truth! Good luck! By the way- it was a crushing defeat in the last
election and the margin is getting worse for you and will continue to get
worse!"

A crushing defeat? Hardly. I wouldn't call barely 2% a curshing defeat, especially as it resulted from election fraud!

Even funnier is that he even bothered to respond to my email. Obviously he feels he needs to "prove" something.

Yes he convinced me that liberals are less informed, less educated, less likely to read than conservatives... except all serious evidence ever collected shows just the opposite. But I guess I not reading the right material.

72. Exactly...
Basically if a celebrity was seen at the same dinner as the Bushies then they are a rightie.

The propoganda that has been fed to these morons really scares me. Unfortunately, I think this is why Bush received so many votes. The masses now believe that if you say anything bad about the war then you don't support the troops. Thanks "liberal" media!! You're just as much responsible as any right-wing extremist.

89. Yep. I'm not surprised a bit. The morons really believe if you hate Bush
you hate the troops as well. Or if you're against this war, you're against 19 year old boys who enlisted b/c they had nothing better to do with their lives thanks to a lousy educational system and a culture that tells them they have to be macho to be a man. I personally feel sorry for the kids who enlisted thinking it was a good way to pay for their college education.

...they seem to be really thin-skinned. A bunch of that people on that list seem to be on there simply because they (gasp!) weren't voting for Smirky. How dare they!
And that Morrissey quote still makes me laugh everytime I see it. Let them have their fun, they just expose themselves for the morans they are.

EDIT: Just saw the "righties" list. Lance Armstrong is not a Republican! He never went on record taking sides! And Adam Sandler is a rightie simply because he supports the troops? They really are reaching. The rest of that list seems to be a bunch of has-beens anyway. Really, that's a pretty sorry group of people.
