6. The story does not appear on page one -- here it is:
Bush Offers Praise and Caution at Marine Base
By DAVID E. SANGER

Published: December 8, 2004

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif., Dec. 7 - President Bush made an emotional visit on Tuesday to the Marine base that has been home to nearly a sixth of all the American troops killed in Iraq. Yet even as he praised the role of American forces that retook Falluja last month, Mr. Bush spoke cautiously about the ability of Iraqi forces to defend themselves.

Mr. Bush flew across the country Tuesday morning for the sole purpose of making the visit here, spending more than two hours in a closed session with about 50 families of marines who had been killed or wounded, and then returning to Washington.

"The enemies of freedom in Iraq have been wounded, but they're not yet defeated," he said at an athletic field here, describing how troops from the First Marine Expeditionary Force had gone "block by block, building by building" in taking Falluja back from insurgents. "We found blood-stained torture chambers where hostages had been executed. We found videos of beheadings and brutal terrorist attacks."

It was Mr. Bush's first visit with troops here since he flew onto the deck of the aircraft carrier Lincoln as it returned to San Diego 18 months ago, when he declared the end of active combat in Iraq under a sign reading "Mission Accomplished." White House officials now concede that they learned a hard lesson about the price of raising expectations about quick military victories....

10. Direct response to Kerry photos at military funeral?
"Mr. Bush flew across the country Tuesday morning for the sole purpose of making the visit here, spending more than two hours in a closed session with about 50 families of marines who had been killed or wounded, and then returning to Washington."

I don't have a link but I wonder if this is in response to the picture that's going around of Kerry attending the soldier's funeral who died in Iraq recently.

11. It's NOT photoshopped.
Maybe you're thinking of the shopped photo bushCartel did during the campaign?

This photo is 100% real, showing the tinpot dictator in his new "semper fi" (on his right) "george w. bush commander in chief" (on his left) fake pretend wannabe uniform.

AWOL wears a uniform whenever he can. So did Hitler. And Stalin. And Mao. And Mussolini.

And Hussein.

22. Bush wearing the uniform is the REAL story here
No other American president has ever put on a military uniform while in office, including all the presidents we have had that were known for their military service. Eisenhower never did it, neither did Grant or George Washington for that matter. One of the major concepts of our government is that we have a CIVILIAN commander in chief. Throughout history, the world's most evil dictators have donned military uniforms to play psychological games with the people of their country - but more importantly they did it to play with the minds of the world. What Bush is saying to everyone by wearing this uniform is that he is a "war" president and he will attack whomever he needs to do carry out his policies. It is a fear tactic. It is an abomination in the face of our republic. He is demonstrating that he has far more in common with Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Hussein, Castro, and the other dictators of the world than with those people who have taken a stand for freedom. We need to write LTTE to the major papers and write letters to the broadcast news networks demanding that someone address this.

25. My LTTE to the New York Times
To the editor:

Upon arising this morning and viewing the front page of the New York Times, I was shocked and thought that surely I must still be dreaming. The cover showed a photograph of President Bush addressing the troops while once again donning a military uniform. The photo accompanied a story further back in the A section, but the photo was the real story. Since when in the history of this republic is it okay for our civilian commander in chief to wear the uniform of any branch of the armed services? One of the tenets of our democracy has been that we have a civilian Commander in Chief. This picture drew to mind similar pictures from history - pictures of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Castro, and even Saddam Hussein - pictures of men who wore military uniforms to psych out the people of their respective nations and the world. This begs the question, is George W. Bush doing the same? What message is he attempting to send by appearing before a throng of military personnel dressed as a military commander? Never in the history of this country has this happened before this president took office. Eisenhower never returned to his uniform, nor did Grant or even Washington - all of whom were great military leaders. I am utterly appalled at this president's lack of protocol and at the precedent that this sets. What kind of message does this send to the world? It is an embarrassment, and the people of this nation should be outraged.

GHWB, whatever one thinks of him, is a man of accomplishment in life, comfortable in shirtsleeves among these men, secure that, at least, due to his military service and the offices and positions he held, he was no fraud as CIC. And there's W, with so many father issues, and so little personal accomplishment, who has to dress up to convince himself and others that he is, in fact, CIC, even to having it printed on his jacket -- what a pitiful little man.
