Rumsfeld a world away on hire

With the war weighing heavy on our nation’s shoulders, our self-serving, arrogant defense secretary does not call on the knowledge of decorated military leaders for guidance, men who have been in battle, felt the fear and understand the strategy of war. Instead, he turns to the corporate world (“Rumsfeld gets his (nonmilitary) man to run Army,” Joseph Galloway column, Nov. 23)

Has it occurred to Donald Rumsfeld that in war there are not stockholders fretting over red ink on a balance sheet? Success or failure is measured in the number of body bags shipped home. Military leaders do not answer to the frustrated moans of stockholders, but instead to the anguished cries of families and friends as they mourn their dead.
