The Daily Show gave Hitchens two segments so they could laugh at him
Sometimes I wonder why they give assholes like Hitchens more than one segment, well after watching the rerun and thinking about it, I think that they figured anything that Hitchens would say would be more outlandish and crazy than what they could come up with.

The man called Mother Teresa and Ghandi frauds! Coming from a stupid drunken asshole like Hitchens, that is high comedy my friends.

Boy was he ever loaded! Did you realise how hard it was for him just to sit in his freaking chair?

On a side note, this week in god and their Reidge segment had me laughing my ass off.

If you missed it catch the rerun.

5. That isnt what he said.
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 03:49 PM by K-W
What he said was that there are factions in Iraq that support and fight with the US.

Which is true, and often forgotten on the anti war left.

Im not defending his thesis, btw, just to clarify.

25. actually, not.
Mother Theresa was staunchly anti-birth control, which perpetuated the need for her "services".

It's kind of like if somebody says "I will feed the hungry", and keeps burning the crops year after year. Yeah, they're feeding the hungry, but they're also perpetuating the problem.

He was serious when he said they were frauds?
I thought that was sarcasm. I was only half listening and thought they were joking around. I'd never heard of Hitchens, so ...

OMG. I think I need to go take a bath now.

4. Hitchens is a world class loser that used to write for Vanity Fair
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 03:49 PM by Melodybe
he considers himself a real "intellectual" even though he is nothing more than a has been drunk.

He decided to quit being liberal and started sucking Bush cock in the run up to the Iraq war.

He is a joke and that's all you need know.

15. Yeah, I just thought he was bringing up the point of idols
And how some people are seen as perfect even though they have faults just like everyone else. And then I put that into context with how the US views itself. But I don't know who that guy was and if he was serious.

14. I agree with Hitchens on Mother Teresa also
She was kind of a sicko. People in Calcutta thought she gave their city a bad name. I don't know enough about Ghandi to state an opinion about him, but I do know quite a bit of Theresa's tactics and I don't like her.

22. As is his relentless pursuit of Kissinger
Gotta give Hitchens his due - when he's onto something, he doesn't let go. He's probably the journalist most hated by Henry Kissinger, and that makes him an all right guy in my book, even if he's so fucking wrong about Fuckface and this goddamned invasion of Iraq.

Check out "The Trial Of Henry Kissinger" - http://www.versobooks.com/books/ghij/h-titles/hitchens_kissinger.shtml

Sundance shows the documentary of the same name every so often. I recommend it.

"Sorry John, I just took a vow of silence... oh, fish! *silence* *laughter*"

Yeah, This Week In God was great.

I couldn't even figure out what Hitchens was trying to say half the time. Good lord.

9. When I heard Hitchens was on
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 03:57 PM by MindPilot
I almost turned it off. I'm glad I didn't. Even though I can't stand that pretentious dipwad it was fun watching Jon make mincemeat of him. Hitchens is trying so hard to play Hunter S Thompson wannabe. He hasn't figured out it takes more than staying drunk to be a sucessful renegade author.

Hitchens was so plowed, I could understand him about half the time. He thinks the Muslim world has great respect for the US's attempt to "liberate" Iraq, and the administration are all morons except for *'s brilliant military strategery.

I've never seen that before.

He was clutching the coffee like it was a life preserver, too.

28. That wasn't coffee--
The way he carefully placed that beverage on the desk made clear to me that Hitchens saw the contents of the cup as vitally important--

Booze, baby!

11. he. was. so. drunk.
he could barely walk to his chair.

I'm not one to jump to judgements or conclusions, but you could practically smell the alcohol reeking off of him.

He could barely talk.

Pretty pathetic.

18. You guys are lucky.
In the UK we have to deal with his brother, Peter Hitchens. And I quote:

"Smoking and buggery can both kill you, by exposing you to diseases you would not otherwise get. If homosexual acts were as common as smoking we would have to bury the victims in mass graves because Aids slays so much faster than cancer."

What a charmer. He's like Christopher but without the comedy element of booze - a buttoned-down, simpering, mealy-mouthed little fascist piece of shit. His excuse for hating homosexuals is, of course, that Jesus told him to.

....Hitchens is an intellectual that will argue any side as long as it is unpopular. He loves to be the contarian.....I don't get it.Self hatred...goes with the booze. His film based on his book "The Kissinger Papers" is excellent.I find myself loving him and hating him and suspect that he feels that way about himself.

21. It is common of former liberals.
They werent liberal for a real reason, they just liked the credibility granted by being a rebel.

So now these people have switched because the conservative movement has wrapped themselves in that same cloak of credibility.

The movement of the right is an impression of movements by the left. This is why so many ex liberals have big roles in it. They like the methods better than the ideals.

27. Hitchen's book: "The Trial of Henry Kissinger" is
a very good book that should be read by anybody who wants to learn how influence peddling has taken over our foreign policy. Hitchy really nails it.

He's a complex character. I disagree with alot of what he says to. He predicted the Iraq War would be brief. :eyes:.
