Moores' "Stupid White Men" sold more than 1 million times...
in Germany. Source: his publishing house "Piper". And I'm pretty sure many people have bought the english original in Germany, too. Germany has 80 million inhabitants. I was really surprised about that number. Now if only there would be a book like this about Germany! But 80% of it fits Germany anyway. You would have to be very stupid and white and man to not see the analogies between what's happening in Europe and the USA.
Greetings from Germany,
Dirk

2. I had hoped
Germany would be totally unlike US, I was fortunate to be able to visit there last year and fell in love with it. So much for USA to learn.

My ancestors come from Schleswig, they are Danes but some of the relatives moved on down into Germany proper. I had cousings that died in WWII in the German army. If I were younger I would seriously consider moving to Germany.

Dirk has a very dire view of the situation in our country and isn't too fond of the Social Democrats / Schröder.

IMHO the Social Democrats are very much like the US Democrats (albeit in an earlier stage) - moving to the political center. Like in the US there are some, who don't like this and feel that there isn't a difference between the conservatives and the Social Democrats any more.

I'm quite happy with the Government and it's work. There is the need for unpopular decisions - and a predominantly right-wing media (there are good liberal papers, but they're doing their job and attack any Government) doesn't make them any easier.
