Actually what bit of difference will it make if obl is caught? There are so many different terror cells now and they are all focused on the US, does it really matter if obl is caught?

And what do you bet that w parades obl around on a leash around captial?

1. Three years ago, it might have been,
But now, OBL is just a rallying cry for thousands of pissed off Muslims. If he's caught, he's a martyr. If not, he's outsmarted the Americans. He wins either way.

2. This fight has never been solely about OBL....
...and thinking that it is, is the easiest way to lose it.

6. The point of a bogus "war on terror" is to have perpetual war.
You can't possibly wage a war on terror with bombs and arms. All it ever does is inflame it.

8. the only good thing about capturing OBL . . .
is that it will reduce the CIA's payroll by several million dollars a year . . .

until they pick his replacement, that is . . .

9. OBL will not be caught. He's too valuable to Bushco
as a tool for perpetuating fear and loathing. Plus, for the right deal, he'll make a video for Bush.

13. GMTA
my thoughts exactly -- OBL is more valuable running around loose and used as a boogie-man buy the bush* mis-adminstration than he would be dead or in jail..

OBL is the terrorist poster child

10. There will be no peace until
we develop, and use, alternate sources of energy and are no longer dependent on mid-east petro. Leaders of those nations will quickly get their house in order when they realize they can no longer hold us over a barrel. Governments often use scapegoats, like hating the U.S., to misdirect the anger of the common man over economic and social disparities and injustices. During the 60's & 70's we achieved great social change. Besides working to ensure fair and valid elections, I believe we MUST work to free ourselves from the bondage of petro based Energy--alternate fuel for autos, solar panels on every home, wind power, and always developing new technologies for safe and sane energy. oh yeah, a side benefit would be the loss of the power of the oil barrons...poor dickie...what will he and his criminal halliburtin buddies do???;) The demise of OBL will not stop the growing hatred of the U.S. nor the terrorist attacks on Innocent lives around the world. Leaders of mid-eastern countries while denouncing to the U.S. the actions of the terrorists, enjoy and use their religious fanaticism to do their 'dirty work'for them...weakening the U.S. Oh, by the way, I doubt that the Bin Laden family with whom the bushs' have been very chummy with for 20 years or so, would approve of Georgie mistreating obl. ;)

11. Nope.
This whole war on terror thing is a sham. If you read Chomsky, you'll see that the US has been in a perpetual state of war since 1941. When the USSR lapsed in 1991, we had to find a new bogeyman.

Muslims fit the bill perfectly. They're an even better scapegoat for global problems than communists. You're average uneducated Joe Sixpack sees them as a bunch of dark-skinned barbarians. Joe Public doesn't even make an effort to understand them--they don't even make an effort to look at the underlying reasons why muslims attacked us. We haven't even seen the worst of it. Bush panders to that viewpoint very well, which is one of the reasons he did well--I didn't say won--in this election.
