Feeling helpless? There ARE things you can do about it...

Seriously if all the posters here would take the time to write a letter to the editor every once in a while, things would be better. I am currently writing to the Commercial Appeal, The Clarion Ledger, and my local college newspaper about the new freedom commission, you can too. Once freepers find out that the government will meddle with their children they are not going to be happy.

Do a freeway blog on a nice over-pass.

I sat at the college democrat table once a week, all day, for months, I actually took time to talk to people and I always had articles and sources on hand to back myself up. As soon as I finish my screenplay, I'll start doing it again. On a side note I am 90 pages into a 140 screenplay, it is kind of like the Princess Bride meets Dune meets Pirates of the Caribbean. Trust me even on a different planet one can bring in metaphors that reflect our current situation. If you artistically inclined write a song, poem, book, screenplay, paint a picture, whatever and have the balls to share them at an open mike night, a church, with your friends etc, etc, etc. Art moves the masses and it is something we will always do better than them.

Start having democratic meet-ups for like minded people, brainstorm, and then seek a logical way to make it happen. Little steps, the right took twenty years to get where they are and they still have to steal elections. Informing folks of the media and voting fraud would be very helpful.

Stop watching any of the mainstream media, turn that shit off! Quit wasting your time, only give the Daily Show and other honest programs your time. Remember for every Hurst there is a Murrow.

Keep your chin up, even though the fascists scare the shit out of me too, we can never back down. As long as men are willing to fight for democracy, freedom will never die.

I love you all, DU is a source of sanity for me and I thank all of the brilliant people here for helping me through the toughest four years of my life.

1. Our Toughest 4 Years is Still To Come
It will be hard. Bush will continue his income disparity between the rich and the poor. Our annual family income will continue to decrease. We will turn further into a banana republic. We will have to fight for civil liberties. We will continue losing friendships with those who don't have the good sense to see what Bush is doing to this country. It will be hard.

2. I know, but we have to do what we can

I find that democrats are actually pretty informed, problem is that so many people seem to think they are all alone.

I never would have believed that some of the folks I talked too knew the things they did. I talked to a black woman who was in her fifties outside of our local jail, her son was there for cocaine possession and she knew about the voting machines, us supporting Saddam in the 1980's and that Bush and company were racist fascists. I never in a million years would have believed someone in her position would know the things she knew but I was surprised. The media really has convinced us that we are all alone and we can not let them get away with it.

It will get worse before it gets better, and if being slapped in the face with fascism is what it takes for America to wake up, then so be it. They will not destroy the world without destroying themselves and the end is not on the way.

Do what you can, and then do more.

3. I have been doing many of those things,
and I will continue to do them.

I am more angry than discouraged. I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe. I am not afraid of the fascists or freepers.

The only saving grace is that I live in Illinois, where there are many like-minded people.

4. My friend Alicia recently moved from Georgia to Jersey
and she freaking loves living in a blue state.

Well Muriel, I hate to start a conversation and run but I am about to fall asleep at the computer, feel free to e-mail me though, I love getting mail.

Have a nice night.

5. Or put up a huge art project
advertising blackboxvoting.org like we did tonight! Just got back from putting it up. It is beautiful. Yes, the next four years are going to suck but I'm not going to stop. And there are a lot of people out there who aren't stopping.

I went to the moveon.org national house party last weekend. There is huge energy out there. Yes, we got knocked down by the false election (another one!!!) but just like weebles, we wobble, but we don't fall down.

A few people are still off the wagon, but for the most part I would say that we are almost up to where we were in September of this year and it took us three years to get the progressives that motivated. So, we've remotivated to that level in less than a month after the selection. Smirk and his band 'o monkeys are going to wish they never decided to rig this election. Yes, the next four years are going to be bad for us, but we will make sure they get to share in it this time around.
