I have a simple question. If you were as rich as bill gates (i think hes got over 50 billion dollars) how much would you donate to democratic groups (groups like moveon and the DNC since you couldnt actually donate it to the democratic campaign)?

I would donate 25 billion dollars. I would give 10 billion to 527s and teh DNC who would run a SH!TLOAD of negative ads of the republicans presidential candidate. I mean think about it. Total between repubs and dems 1 billion dollars were used in this campaign. With 10 billion dollars, every single person who watched TV would see an anti republican candidate ad during every commercial break. It would be impossible for them to survive.

I would give 100 million to every senate campaign. I would give 20 million to every house campaign. All of this would have to be through democratic groups like the DNC.

Then i would give 130 million dollars to every governors campaign again through other groups (gotta love that loophole).

Then id give 36 million to every state democratic party. THat money would be distributed to all the state legislature races.

We would end up winning the presidency, the senate, the house, governorships, and state legistlatures.

*sigh* how great it would be to have a sh!tload of money *sigh*

1. wouldn't really give money to politcal organisations
I'd spend my money with people helping at the coal face to clean up the mess that politicians make.

If I saw any sign (even a wee one) that the Dem's (or the ALP in my neck of the woods) remembered that they're supposed to be representing the average working "man" instead of the same corporate thugs that pay the other side's piper then maybe I'd spread of bit cash that way but I don't want even more of my money going to cater for WTO and IMF meetings where rich men decide the fate of poorer people all over the world.

As for if I was Bill Gates - I'd stop my insistence and lobbying for an increase in "intellectual property" legislation so Africa could begin to afford the drugs they need to treat their population.

2. Well i would find it funny
If i somehow had all that money and through donations singlehandedly got a democratic landslide on all levels of government. It would be quite awesome.
