Poll question: Should Churches bring Armed Forces Recruiters to Sunday Services?
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 01:21 PM by bleedingheart
I think all those churches that advocated the election of the Shrub should help their "great leader" amass the Armed Forces they need to fight this great war they are all eager to help out with....so what do you think.

Should those priests, pastors and ministers who were telling people not to vote for Kerry push their flock to enlist????

1. Well, falwell's church for sure.
After all, he wants to blow them up real good "in the name of the Lord" as per his appearance on CNN with (a real reverend) Jesse Jackson on, I believe, one of Blister's shows.

2. sounds good to me
Wouldn't want to entrust the holy war to heathens like me.

How can we encourage this? Email suggestions to recruiters?

6. We could probably
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 02:12 PM by cheryl27
do leafleting as DU'ers .... get recruiting pamphlets and blanket the right-wing and red Kool-Aid churches parking lots.

We need to keep in mind that not all churches support chimpy or this war.

13. Here is the leaflet I made for the local church...
...in my neighborhood. I did it because the weeks before the election they have a marquee outside the church and on it they had "Who would Bin Ladin vote for" and after the election they had "We won it for the Lord". Well maybe the will realize what that really means. Feel free to use.

True Believers

Rejoice, Rejoice George W. Bush has been re-elected with all our help.

Now we need to help our President once again. Everyday in Iraq 2-3 soldiers are killed, with many more injured and unable to return to the battlefield. The President promised Americans we would not have a draft if he were to be elected. We must enlist our sons and daughters into the Armed Services as soon as possible so that President Bush can keep his promise. If we do not and he has to enact the draft can you just here those Liberals? “President Bush is a flip-flopper”. “President Bush lied to us”. They will be screaming “see we told you so”. Can’t you just hear that filthy Michael Moore on the Television already?

We must do our part as quickly as possible, in order to protect our freedoms here. The quicker we get those Ay-rabs, the sooner we will all be safer from the terrorist and be able to live without fear again.

So please take your children to the local recruitment office and we can continue to support our President with Pride.

16. Great idea!
Let those "security moms" who voted for Bush put their sons and daughters in the service first.

I am sorry but this war is just a mess and we had no business in Iraq to begin with, so I don't think my family should shed any blood for it.

Do you HONESTLY think the average "true" Christian LIKES war? do you know ANYTHING about what the bible teaches?

Jesus was a frigging pacifist. He taught "Love your enemies" over and over. The only instances where Jesus got angry was when church "leaders" took advantage of their influence and tried to hijack the faith (which unfortunately the Catholic church has succeeded in doing)

My Church has bulletin (Sp?) boards placed all over the place with the names of the families of fallen soldiers. My study group prays on a constant basis for everyone in danger over there (Both US soldiers and the Iraqis) None of us are in favor of war (well maybe there are a few wackos, they're everywhere....) However we aren't ignorant enough to believe we can make it so it magically never happened. The best we can do is pray that it resolves as quickly as possible and elect leaders we think will finish it fastest (Unfortunately it seems most of us chose the wrong one...............)

If "religious nut-jobs" are responsible for giving that moron so many damn votes, this thread is certainly doing a wonderful job of convincing them the democratic party is the better choice...........

Seriously if you want to win elections, you need to win voters, not do your best to turn them off.......

15. my church advocated voting against candidates who were against the war
and in fact some churches have shunned members who have spoken out against *.

Why would I want to win their votes....they want the war...let them fight it.

I stood at the polls with a fellow who kept telling people there was a "biblical" reason we are at war...

20. Go back and reread the first post
It was not an attack against churches, it was an attack on "all those churches that advocated the election of the Shrub." There's a big difference.

10. No, but
anyone who supports Shrub's war should be willing to enlist themselves or encourage their family members and friends to enlist.

Voting "no" just because I don't think government and churches should be mixing in each others spaces for ANY reason.

11. Without a doubt
Let the bible beaters put their own blood on the line. While they're at it, let them take up a collection so they can pay for their own goddamned war.

Good idea. After all, anyone who would swear to kill for Bush is an idiot, and where do you go to find large groups of idiots?

19. Judging by the parking lot bumper stickers, my church went 90% for Kerry
I cannot even imagine them bringing in military recruiters.

How do you know that the fundie churches aren't doing it already? :-)
