The key claim of the Declaration of Independence that the colonists said justified a revolution was this: That George III had a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States."
Basically, if this claim were to be proven true then revolution becomes morally justifiable:
"When a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Sounds like the Bush Administration to me... Of course, these days "evincing a design" is derided as a "conspiracy theory".
