Arlen Specter, just one day after the historic Republican victory at the ballot box has warned the president not to nominate judges that are too pro-life or too conservative. The arrogance and sheer audacity of Senator Specter proves that he, despite any claims of seniority, is unfit to Chair the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Voters sent a clear message of support for the President's agenda, and he deserves a Chairman that shares his views of the judicial nomination process, not a maverick seeking to impose his own beliefs on the court.

If Specter is allowed to head the Judiciary Committee, there will be a six year internal fight among Republicans that will depress the vote for Republicans in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

If you permit Arlen Spectre to chair the judiciary committe,
I am one of MILLIONS of Christians who will take it as a betrayal of everything we thought we were working for when we supported your party.

I can assure you -- if that happens, MILLIONS of us will either sit out the next elections, or give our votes to third or fourth parties.

It's not the open virulence of Democrats that hurts the most, BUT SUAVE BETRAYAL BY PERCEIVED FRIENDS.

Spectre today = loss of presidency, house, and senate in 2008. I can promise you that.

Anyone on DU knows that our side is argumentative, and somewhat less bound by partisan loyalty. Democrats are traditionally a more fractious party and are more inclined to criticize one another, which is both good and bad IMO. It takes considerably more stress for Republicans to turn on one another.
