Poll question: Which Social group should get the boot in order to beat the Repukes?
Edited on Sun Nov-14-04 08:13 PM by JanMichael
Come one come all! Which group of people are you most willing to sacrifice for electoral success??

How wrong are you willing to be to beat the Right?

5. I Voted Other
Let's jettison the "DLC Appeasers" group. They remind me of a pro football team that plays conservatively (no pun intended) on offense, and plays prevent defense. Playing to not lose, instead of attacking and going in for the kill.

9. If We can't win
on the right choices then we just can't win. I think its wrong to abandon issues that we have always faught for.

Am I going to have an abortion? No, But I think we should fight for people rights

Am I a minority? No unless we are still considering White women to be a minority.

Do I have to worry about employment? NO, I am self employed

Do I have to worry about Gay rights? NO, because I'm straight.

Do I have to worry about Iraq? NO, Like I previously mentioned, white female. (I can't be drafted)

BUT I do care about all of these issues and consider them to be the core reasons as to why I am a liberal/progressive.

If we abandoned an issue like that then we aren't any better than the freepers who pander to the evangelicals to get their vote.

34. You say you cannot be drafted
IF, and only if, we had a draft, do you really think that women would be excluded this time around? Even if the legislation were drawn up for men only, can you imagine every Federal court in the land agreeing to that scenario? I know, there is no Equal Rights Amendment, but the courts have not upheld any "separate but equal" treatment for the genders, when they face it. Car insurance excepted, of course.

I think the right knows it, too, and that's the number one reason we WON'T have a draft in this country. They don't want to send little Suzy Debutante marching off in fatigues if she's too stupid to keep her college deferment.

And yes, i am treating this thread as a joke. You don't get justice by seperating people into who deserves it and who doesn't.

17. The people in the poll are all oppressed
Edited on Sun Nov-14-04 08:47 PM by JanMichael
economically, persoannly, socially, or legally.

Gun control people are not an oppressed group. They are just activists.

Typed by Stephanie for JanMichael (World's Cutest Husband)

HOWEVER, Stephanie says:

Gun control people either feel or really have been victimized---so, speaking literally, they have indeed been oppressed--socially, economically (seen a hospital bill for a gunshot wound?) and definately legally.

Interesting trains of thought here-

25. IMO we should abandon abortion as part of a party platform
If we got got rid of our prochoice stance we would win back a lot of prolife liberals who are single issue voters.

29. The bigger factor is where a candidate stands on abortion.
Since there is little federal funding of abortion already, I'd like for our 2008 presidential candidate to say he's against federal funding of abortion.

This would give us a chance with more "pro-life" voters.

32. I agree with you 100%
Get rid of the litmus test, or the perception of a pro-choice litmus test, and let the candidates make up their own minds.

The real reason pro-choice on abortion is part of the Dem platform: it's the money, honey. You heard that right, money from the pro-choice lobby was what bought that litmus test, exactly the same as the money from the corporate interests buy the Repuke platform litmus tests of corporate supremacy.

It's bad enough to be cheated. Its much worse for the cheated to "roll over" and take it in one way or another.

Only the fighters should be kept. Better yet, the fighters should all jettison themselves, and leave the rest to the fate they have earned.

Oops, so sorry - out of time here.. gotta go comment on Arnold, or Hillery, or Guilani etc in 2006 or 2008! (Yeah.. like its really gonna matter if we don't do everything we can about the 2004 fraud now.)
