Which TiVo should my husband get me for my birthday?
They have a $100 rebate that ends tomorrow. We can't decide between the 40, 80 or 140 hour model. Don't want to under- or over-buy. We have Adelphia cable TV and modem and use Powerbooks, if that matters.

I've waited for years to get one!

1. get the biggest
seriously, you'll never ever say to yourself "damn, I just have too much room on my Tivo."

2. Consider ReplayTv
You can save and share shows over the internet with others.

3. The bigger the better
Of course, if you aren't terrified of opening up your computer's case, you can add another drive. (not hard, you can buy a kit with all the brackets, cables, etc)

6. I agree...go for the bigger one
Definitely go for the one with more hours (though 80 sounds like it might be enough). I have one of the original Tivo units (with a whopping 15 hours, lol). I'll get off my butt and do an upgrade eventually.

Like someone said earlier, you will never find yourself saying "damn, I've got too much Tivo storage space".

BTW, you're going to love it.

A word to the wise about Adelphia though...I have them too, and they have their own DVR now that they're trying to get people to buy/rent. They like to play stupid when it comes to hooking up the Tivo.
