What can you guys tell me about Bill Frist?
I know very little about Frist. But I caught some of his speech the other day on CSpan about the prospect of Democratic filibusters of judicial nominees.

Although I don't know anything about the guy, the message I got from him was (note this is NOT a quote...just the jest):
Democrats...shut up, roll-over, and capitulate.

Needless to say, he rubbed me the wrong way. I watched him for thirty seconds, and had to change the station before I started throwing stuff at the tele.

So...what do we know about him? What can we do to sink this guy? Am I being over sensitive about his remarks?

36. His family business was fined more than $1.2 BILLION for
defrauding Medicare. That family business is HCA (Healthcare Corporation of America) and is an enormous corporation. I think that was around 2001. At the time, his brother was president and his father was Chairman of the Board. They are money-hungry, greedy, pompous, authoritarian, controlling, etc. And that's the good part.

He joined politics to help the family business. They were tired of being dictated to by Medicare and Medicaid as to what would be paid for and how much would be paid. He wanted to get the laws changed to help the family business (typical Republican).

And the rules in the Prescription Drug bill about people getting drug coverage by joining HMO's, companies charging as much as they want to with no government negotiation permitted on price, and the government paying HMO's more than they pay Medicare per capita? Those all came from Dr. Frist.

It seems he want to change the rules so that the democrats can't stop the republicans from doing what ever the hell they feel like.

They do not want anyone holding them back in any way.
If they have to change the rules to do it, they will.

A real pleasant guy, this Bill First is.
He wants it all and will not break the law to get it, but just change all the laws. This way he can legally strip us of all our rights

14. Hes hardcore
A major Bush friend (unlike Trent Lot was), hes hardcore to the right. He was a heart surgeon before entering politics. Hes rich, and fits the stereotype of the heartland conservative senator.

Lott and before him Dole were far better at reaching out to the "other side" to try to pass stuff. This is one reason Lott was not loved by the Bush admin. This guy is not interested in compromise on the issues hes interested in pushing whatever agenda Bush tells him to push.

And although I have always been concerned about what was going on in the world...and understood how our system works...I didn't become TRULY and DEEPLY interested in politics until I read Al Franken's "Lies".

I'm sorry that it makes you mad that I ask questions.

38. We need a complete smear campaign package..
.. ready for each potential GOP nominee.

So that when the candidate emerges from his primary in March, he's greeted with an ad campaign already defining him in the electorate's eyes.

For Frist, for example, imagine a HUGE sweeps advertising campaign where we see two totally adorable kittens in front of a whitescreen. Then, off-screen, we hear the horrific sounds of cats being tortured, crying-out for mercy. Meanwhile, captions at the bottom of the screen tell the truth about kitten-fister Frist. (What's that? I think I hear the gender gap opening back up from that one..!)

How's that for an introduction?

There could be another commercial about his involvement in the Medicare scandal. And meanwhile, we could have Frist flyers ready for conservative church parking lots. The message: Remember that little healthcare company he's invested in? They provide "reproductive services" to women. Yup.. he's an abortion profiteer. (indirectly, of course..)

See? We have a fund set-up and ready to go for March of 2008. We'll have a tailored smear file ready for each potential GOP candidate - complete with TV commercial scripts ready to be shot as soon as the nominee is decided. We unload on the candidate early (just as they labelled Kerry a "flip flopper"), and their candidate is already hobbled before he even makes a VP pick.

My suggestions, for what they're worth..

the visualization from your idea about that commercial...brings tears to my eyes already. He would at least lose the majority of the female vote on that one. And probably quite a few animal lovers.

The smear idea is great. We could call ourselves the "Shit Boat Vets for What Comes Around..."

F*** these people...it wouldn't even be that much of a stretch to ruin their image. At least we would be telling the truth.

Frist was born rich, and got richer thanks to massive criminal fraud by the family business. The basis of the Frist family fortune is HCA Inc. (Hospital Corporation of America), the largest for-profit hospital chain in the country, which was founded by Frists father and brother. And, just as Karl Rove was engineering the scuttling of Trent Lott and the elevation of Frist, the Bush Justice Department suddenly ended a near-decadelong federal investigation into how HCA for years had defrauded Medicaid, Medicare and Tricare (the federal program that covers the military and their families), giving the greedy health-care behemoths executives a sweetheart settlement that kept them out of the can.

33. Here's what I know
Bill Frist is a cardiologist by training. His nickname here is Catkiller, because when he was in medical school in Boston, he'd go to the Boston animal shelters, claim to be adopting cats as pets, then take them back to school and kill them for dissection as part of his medical training. (This is a misdemeanor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but not only did he get away with it, he brags about it in his autobiography.)

The Frist family of Tennessee owns a chain of private hospitals called Hospital Corporation of America. It was, and may still be, known as HCA/Columbia. HCA/Columbia owned some hospitals in the Carolinas; thanks to Medicare billing irregularities (a nice way to say "they were ripping off the government") these hospitals no longer belong to HCA/Columbia.

The Frists are staunchly pro-life, which may explain why the remaining HCA hospitals are all abortion providers.

Since he's been in the Senate he has consistently voted with the farthest-right elements in that body, which explains why he is majority leader now. In practice he is approximately as extreme as Tom DeLay, but he has the grace to wrap his iron fist in a velvet glove.

The message you got was correct: the guy hates Democrats with every fiber of his being. If given the choice he would probably throw them all off every committee they serve on. As it is, he wants them to rubber-stamp everything the Republicans think of.

How to sink him? I'm not sure it's possible without control of one house of Congress and of the Oval Office.

I must say...I've always been the type of guy that tried to reject rumor mill, smear gossip. But I've also realized in the past two weeks...nice guys finish last. If the media is not going to call them on this ridiculous crap...and the sheeple are just going to keep buying it...then I say lets take the fight to these bastards. Even if it doesn't sit right in my stomach. In otherwords, some intestinal fortitude.

And just to let you know...I had no idea about the cat thing...OR the "Hospital Hotels" owned by his familia. And I'm more active than most (even if I am a newcomer). This might be some of that information people should know. So spread it around.

52. Dunno
Realistically? No, not with the media in the GOP's pocket.

Let's use the most damning charge against Frist: that HCA hospitals perform abortions. It's damning for two reasons: he's very pro-life, and the people who support him are the same way. If we went public with HCA's abortion services, Limbaugh would denounce us on his radio show and say HCA doesn't do abortions. O'Reilly and Hannity would do the same on television. Coulter would say we were all terrorists for thinking that Frist would condone baby-killing in any of his hospitals. After a couple days of that, you could print the HCA abortion services price list on the front page of every newspaper in America INCLUDING the Washington Times and the freeper/dittohead contingent would think the evil liberal media was lying to America.

I think we have an out, though; Michael Badnarik of the Libertarians and David Cobb of the Greens have raised the money for a recount in Ohio, are working on raising the money to train the recounters, and have demanded a recount of the presidential race in Ohio. If it comes out the way we think it will, Kerry can call the House and Senate Republican leadership in and tell 'em they can either play in a truly bipartisan manner, or he's going to issue an executive order unsealing Reagan's papers.
