| I Need A Link on A Specific Casualty Count in Iraq |
|
I recently heard on either Air America, or on cable, a statistic that really got my attention.
The reporter, or commentator said that in addition to 1180 US military deaths in the Iraq war, over 6,000 American GIs have lost at least one limb in the fighting.
This is a very disturbing statistic, and when I used it today, I was challenged for verification.
I was wondering if any of my DU buddies are aware of this figure, and can point me to a link that I can use to verify this figure.
Thank You,
louis c

| 3. I don't buy that number. |
|
That's close to the total number that they say have been wounded, and though I don't believe their giving us the full wounded statistics, I don't think they would be quite that wildly out of the park.
Also bear in mind that nearly half of the wounded are returned to duty within 72 hours, and alot more than that are more seriously injured, but not to the point of losing limbs. I would just treat that number with alot of scepticism.
