the Evangelicals are driving me away from Jesus
Not that he ever talked to me.

But I used to pray

2. There's a big difference between
God and religion. Fundies worship religion, not God, but they'd be highly insulted if anyone told them that.

9. If evangelicals were driving him/her away from anything or anybody
but evangelicalism (?) and evangelicals,
I'd ask the same question.

4. Religion is a personal relationship with "God"....
No group of inviduals (Church) can sanction this relationship...

6. Well, they kicked Jesus out of church, too.
You guys have a lot in common. Wise men still seek him.

8. You should have watched NOW to hear Sister Joan
Sister Joan Chittister

I'm not a Catholic, but I was very impressed with what she had to say about these "religionists."

10. Don't let them.
Your realtionship with Christ is a personal one, and you need not let anyone get between you and Him. Be strong, and don't be afraid to ask for His help.

11. I'm questioning Jesus as the messiah, and the Fundies are...
...just further proof that christianity may be a false religion. I've never been comfortable with the concept that I must believe something....or else I will burn in the lake of fire (hell).

Christians claim that Joseph Smith was a heretic and the Book of Mormon is all false. Yet, Jesus and the new testament follow the same pattern.

I've been to a website called, jewsforjudaism.org - and they make some valid points - so much so that I am considering converting to Judaism.

17. Other things to consider....
The Jewish faith does NOT pander to ppl to convert... foudn this interesting.

Also, it takes a while to fully convert. At least four years of study have to be completed before conversion.

12. Bah! Lip service evangelicals and convenience store christians
There they are, shopping the aisles of scripture, picking and choosing what suits them, ignoring the rest, thinking if their cart is full that's good enough when they check out, even if it's filled with junk spiritual food.

Neochristians. Not the real thing, just a radical imitation.

14. Jesus Hated Self-Righteous Money Grubbing Greedy Bahavior
I seem to remember that He took a whip to some of the self-righteous temple merchants and cursed a few other religious folks. He even mocked the fact that they tithed seed. And he chose to hang out with ordinary folks that didn't wear their religion on their sleeve or use it to manipulate and use others.

I believe but I no longer call myself christian. I pray but not to the fundie god of greed. intolerance and injustice.

Your faith is yours. You choose what you believe and how it impacts your life. Nobody can make that decision for you - and nobody can take it from you. Spirituality and faith are very different from organized religion. And even organized religion offers some diversity.

15. Well, come away from the evangelicals nutcases and hang out with
progressive Christians instead. (See my page on Christianity for more about that.)
