How many have died since "mission accomplished"?
How many Americans? How many Iraqis?

I guess a better question would be: how many were dead when he said that? That way we can subtract whenever we get updated estimates.

1. almost all of them
the fighting up to then was just a prelude to the real war. Less than 200 I think up to that point.

3. US soldiers?
More than a thousand now. 138 died in Iraq prior to May 1st 2003 when the Thing pronounced Mission Accomplished. There are now over 1180 dead that have been anounced. As far as Iraqis go, I doubt we will ever even know.

5. Well...
There were 139 American troop deaths on May 1, "mission accomplished" day... the day major combat operations in Iraq had ended. *cough*

The latest figures I can find are 1181 total as of yesterday (Sat), so it's a bit higher actually.

So, 1181 - 139 = 1042, or 88% of US troop deaths have been after Bush played dress-up.
