I log onto DU then my computer crashes. It seems to happen when I lot onto DU. Oh,theres my tinfil hat.

3. Now that you mention it,

I have been a lurker on this site for a while; on about 10 occasions over the past couple of months I've hit my 'favorites' link to DU and my laptop shut itself down.

My computer is pretty well secured; I have decent firewall & anti-virus programs, as well as spy-ware programs,(I keep them all updated and running), done all the updates for WinXP, shut down all the services that can be exploited and I keep a close watch over my registry.

After about the fifth time this happened, I completely wiped my drive and reinstalled WinXP and minimal required programs; the shutdowns happened another five times or so and counting.

Anyone else have this happen? Any ideas or fixes?

doesn't it? It makes no sense; I can't find any illicit 'shutdown' commands in Events, any of the logs or the registry. I don't get it...

I have had a few bad things happen, which I think I can trace to DU, but not that many. I think Skinner and EladG have done a great job in keeping us safe from too much intrusion.
