Hello, when did "HIPPIE" become fashionable again?
I'm looking at the "We're not sorry" rants and it's like the last 30 years never happened! When did this 'hippie' thing become 'hip' again?

When I forgot to cut my hair.

Apparently, its renewed popularity must've overlapped with GlamourShots....

Then I better go find a commune to live in and we'd better start protesting since that means we are right just like they were.

that are still running. The hippies are all grandparents now but they still follow the lifestyle.

So they are looking back to an era when "hippies" didn't exist (and public facilities were legally segregated, and lynchings were unprosecuted...)

If they are new, perhaps we should explain that the 60's were over 35 years ago.

25. I'm not knocking being a mom, but surely they have to have
more going for them than that. I mean all those freeper types call themselves some kind of mom or the other. It's like giving birth has given them a mandate to lord it over all others.

(he is pro-*)
Frankly, i don't care. The hippies were all about peace, love, and harmony. I don't see how it is a negative label (unless calling us hippies insinuates that we are all big druggies).

So i call him a right wing redneck. Hey, if he is gonna label me, I can sure as hell fight fire with fire.

23. The real hippies were.
Then there were the ones who jumped in for the drugs, sex and rock n'roll. They were the ones who sponged off of the real hippies. When the fad was over, they all went back to school and became Republicans.

22. Yeah, I noticed that.
They also like the "birkenstock-wearing, granola-crunching" stereotype.

It's a pretty vivid illustration of how isolated they are from urban, cosmopolitan America. Their only view of war protesters has been maybe a few seconds here and there on Fox, and you know how they ALWAYS focus on the weirdest people in the crowd they can find.

I eat meat, have short hair, and am pretty conservative in my personal conduct. I just don't believe in butting into the lives of others and telling them how to live, and I don't want them to tell me how to live.

Besides, I'd rather be a "hippie" than a racist bitch with a tacky Glamor Shots photo displaying the flag of treason and racism.

24. Seriously, the culture warriors see this as a fight against the hippies
One idiot syndicated columnist even referred to the sixties protestors as "Clinton hippies", which would make sense only if they believed in time travel or that Clinton---an Oxford trained lawyer and state AG and president--really did have something in common with the guy growing hemp and calling his woman "Moon Goddess".

They can't tell the difference between us.

That woman probably married a guy with hair longer than anybody within fifty miles of a major urban area would tolerate.

31. My what a charming photo
And so original. A confederate flag shaped like a rose. My GOD why have I not thought of this? I could make a FORTUNE! And that fancy, city-slicker font. My god! And the wound of "hippie" may never heal. I guess the glamourous creator of this fabulous work of art has gotten the better of me. Woe is me, Woe is me. Some big haired frumpy Stepford southerner has bested me with her touching, overpowering art. And that use of 4 instead of "for"...that puts this lady right up there with Cicero. What a rhetorical flourish. Why don't we all just move to Alabama now, join the Republican party, and become fundevangelical white trash. <sarcasm off>

I recently saw an ad for the kind of clothes I used to wear in the 70s (I was a late-blooming hippy), but they were all new and clean and made in Indonesia! A peasant blouse and bell bottoms with flowers imprinted in the fabric (we actually had to sew OURs on)...I had to do a double take.

Of all the stereotyped groups of people on the planet, this is the one I identify with. The only reason I used the "x" in my user name is because I have no more use for Zig Zags or bongs...I feel that use of naturally grown, mind altering substances is needed to round out one's hippiedom.(or counterculturedom!)
