Think Kerry Is Not Involved In This Fight? ..... Think Again.
O.K....this is my favorite quote from the piece....but you must read it all.....It is amazing!!!!

http://www.moderateindependent.com/v2i21election.htm

"Nader is using New Hampshire as a staging ground to call the Diebold machine-recorded electronic votes into question.

Why is he doing it in New Hampshire, which Kerry won? Does this mean he is going after Kerry?

Not at all. It is tactically brilliant. In New Hampshire, any candidate can call for a recount as long as he offers to pay for it. And that cost in this small state is only $2,000 dollars. So Nader is choosing to challenge the results there, but only to make the case that, if there turns out to be a problem with the machines there, the votes must be challenged everywhere.

As the WashPost reports, "We have received reports of irregularities in the vote reported on the AccuVote Diebold Machines in comparison to exit polls and trends in voting in New Hampshire," Nader wrote Secretary of State William M. Gardner. "These irregularities favor President George W. Bush by 5% to 15% over what was expected."

So you see clearly he is charging that the machines skewed in favor of President Bush. New Hampshire was just the easiest, smartest, and cheapest place to get a first crack at making the case, and so opening a Pandora’s Box that will spread out across the nation.
(This is the best part!!!) :nuke:
So enjoy the non-Moderate Independent media’s coverage of Fallujah and ignoring of the recount. But rest assured that people are on the case, and that Kerry is taking the fight to them – in such a smart matter they don’t even know what’s hitting them. And remember, Watergate didn’t break the week after the election. No one knew anything was even fishy, but in the end, the devil go his due."

3. Bless you for this!!!
I've been maintaining, since November 3, that until December 13, when the electoral college meets to cast their votes, the election's not over. That's a LONG time away in terms of investigation and information-gathering.

I still do not believe Kerry has walked away from this fight, and I will not believe the fight is over until * lifts his paw and takes that oath on January 20, 2005.

If he ever does.

I truly expect to see John Kerry sworn in as our next President. I really do.

I'm not crazy. I'm an old leftie Constitutional lawyer. ;)

4. Obviously you don't know that the cost is actually
$ 50,000 and Nader can't afford it.The $2000 was just for one county, and the Kerry campaign has stated it doesn't want to be involved. Reported yesterday WP. CNN and CBS and AP . Nader requested Kerry's help.

15. Let's not forget....
...that Nader gave us the seatbelt, got rid of Pintos...among many other things. If anyone can get to the bottom of the Diebold Machine problems it's him. Let's forgive him and send him our support and money. Maybe this is why he ran...so he would be a candidate and have rights to the voting machines.

22. Hey...I've been hating Nader too...
...but, I've been around long enough to be familiar with his WHOLE CAREER as a consumer advocate, before politics. It was a very distinguished and honorable career. His whole life has been about public service. He has been completely self-less in his pursuits. Either he has lost his mind or he has a plan....I hope it's the latter.

Diebold to Settle Electronic Voting Suit
Wednesday November 10, 7:26 pm ET
By Rachel Konrad, AP Technology Writer
Diebold to Pay $2.6 Million to Settle Calif. Lawsuit Alleging Use of Shoddy Voting Equipment

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Diebold Inc. agreed Wednesday to pay $2.6 million to settle a lawsuit filed by California alleging that the electronic voting company sold the state and several counties shoddy voting equipment.

Although critics characterized the settlement as a slap on the wrist, Diebold also agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to partially reimburse Alameda, San Diego and other counties for the cost of paper backup ballots, ink and other supplies in last week's election. California's secretary of state banned the use of one type of Diebold machine in May, after problems with the machines disenfranchised an unknown number of voters in the March primary.

Faulty equipment forced at least 6,000 of 316,000 voters in Alameda County, just east of San Francisco, to use backup paper ballots instead of the paperless voting terminals. In San Diego County, a power surge resulted in hundreds of touch-screens that wouldn't start when the polls opened, forcing election officials to turn voters away from the polls.

According to the settlement, the North Canton, Ohio-based company must also upgrade ballot tabulation software that Los Angeles County and others used Nov. 2. Diebold must also strengthen the security of its paperless voting machines and computer servers and promise never to connect voting systems to outside networks.

"There is no more fundamental right in our democracy than the right to vote and have your vote counted," California Attorney General Bill Lockyer said in a statement. "In making false claims about its equipment, Diebold treated that right, and the taxpayers who bought its machines, cavalierly."

The original lawsuit was filed a year ago by electronic voting critic Bev Harris and activist Jim March, who characterized the $2.6 million settlement as "peanuts."

March, a Sacramento whistle blower who filed suit on behalf of California taxpayers, could receive as much as $75,000 because of the settlement.

But he said the terms don't require Diebold to overhaul its election servers -- which have had problems in Washington's King County and elsewhere -- to guard them from hackers, software bugs or other failures.

The former computer system administrator was also upset that the state announced the deal so quickly.

Several activist groups, computer scientists and federal researchers are analyzing Nov. 2 election data, looking for evidence of vote rigging or unintentional miscounts in hundreds of counties nationwide that used touch-screen terminals. Results are expected by early December.

"This settlement will shut down a major avenue of investigation before evidence starts trickling in," March said. "It's very premature."

A Diebold executive said the settlement would allow the company to spend more money on improving software and avoid "the distraction and cost of prolonged litigation." Diebold earnings plunged 5 cents per share in the third quarter because of the California litigation, which could cost an additional 1 cent per share in the current quarter.

Diebold shares closed Wednesday at $53.20, up 64 cents, on the New York Stock Exchange.

13. This is fantastic!! Another great bit of news that I read last night on
DU, and can't find the thread today, is that the scandal has been covered (ALREADY!) in Wikipedia, the online encylopedia. It is covered quite well, and they imply that Kerry is working behind the scenes....they even discuss political connections of the RNC and Diebold, ES and S, etc!

A Must Read:

16. How I hope you are right
You have absolutely no idea how much I hope you are right. It has been so depressing for me to think that I supported someone with so much of my energy and soul to have them drop off the face of the earth like Kerry has.

(PS....I'm not new-I screwed up in my name change and now I have to start all over again. There's always one in every bunch-I guess)

28. Why then has Kerry's camp and other dems RESIGNED to
defeat PUBLICALLY???????????? Why was he choking up at his concession speech?

Why are all the Dem talking heads saying (virtually) "get over it"? Something seems "off", besides the voter fraud.
