70. I live in LA! That IS Westwood - in front of the Federal Building

Those ARE army tanks - there's an Army Rotc building just a few blocks down the street on Wilshire. Last year I was at an anti-war rally and some soldiers pointed machine guns right at me - and I was doing nothing to provoke them. I just ignored them - but I thought, man this could make Kent State look like nothing!

Four Dead In Ohio. May 4, 1970
author: andrea pdx
The following is exerpted from an article appearing on the Cleveland Indy Media site. It is a narrative of someone who was wounded at Kent State in May of 1970. Four students were killed and nine other students were wounded by Ohio National Guardsmen sent suppress an anti war demonstation protesting the expansion of the Vietnam war into Cambodia which had occured days before.

6. Has anyone contacted the LA Police chief
and asked why the army is using a public thoroughfare to intimidate peaceful protesters?

9. I think there is an overeaction here in the aftermath
of the incident at the Mexican Consulate. A man tried to kidnap an employee of the consulate yesterday to take her hostage. The police shot him and were able to foil the kidnapping. So I think it's probably a case of raw nerves playing out. At least I hope there isn't anything more sinister going on.

11. Remember this link? Bush has his mandate and this is ok
http://kurtnimmo.com/blog/index.php?p=405

Now that Bush has his “mandate” from the American people, those who oppose his policies can expect increased surveillance, harrassment, and maybe even arrest and detention. Recall Bush’s attitude toward those who disagreed with him when he was the governor of Texas—he told peaceful environmental protesters demonstrating outside the governor’s mansion in 1999, that “the rules have changed” and ordered them arrested. “The governor seems to think he can, by fiat, simply hack away ‘the right of the people to peaceably assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances,’ to quote a portion of the First Amendment,” commented Charles Levendosky of the Casper Star-Tribune. Indeed. As we now know, Bush believes the Bill of Rights itself should be changed.
