LOS ANGELES, November 9, 2004 - At 7:50 PM armored tanks showed up at an anti-war protest in front of the federal building in Westwood.

LAPD use it usually to break down the doors of alleged crack houses. On edit. That's only if it is a police vehicle. That looks like a real army tank to me though.

9. That really takes me back

City on fire, block after block of Pico Boulevard burned to the ground. Pipe bombs attached to gasoline pumps in Brentwood. Machine gun fire in the streets. Helicopters shot out of the sky. -- May 1, 1992.

Back then they put the tanks on the beach. The city was burning down so they closed the beaches (?!) and blocked people from getting in the water with tanks. Subtle bloody geniuses.

I can't believe this actually happens. I'm talking about the tanks and excessive number of police, not the protesters.

I was talking to my highly Christian conservative friend, and he told me that the protesters in Florida (remember when?) Were being "terribly violent and throwing rocks at officers."

Oh well, many people have called it. We are living in a Fascist country even if it is only showing up on the radar as a proto-Fascism for now.

The Police State part got its underscore with the tanks at a protest. These kinds of government gestures will probably increase gradually. The slow, symbolic erosion has been in play for a while.
