Ashcroft, the Absolutist Enforcer

"The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved."

-- from the AG's resignation letter.

The only kind of person who would pen such ironclad drivel is the same kind of person who believes that homosexuality is to be condemned and its practitioners marginalized, that dancing is a sin, and that pandering to racist voters by blocking the candidacy of a qualified black man for a judgeship is honorable.

3. Uummm, the statues, you forgot the irrational covering of statues
in the lobby of the DoJ! Nuts. Totally off the wall crazy.

Remember, please, his home state voted for a dead man instead of him, John Ashcroft. And then our illustrious president anointed Ashcroft the most powerful attorney's slot on the planet.

Kooks.

4. still crossing my fingers that he's caught up in the CIA agent leak

Let's remember that he had to name a special prosecutor once he realized that he knew more than casually at least one of the people his own department was investigating in the Plame probe.

I'm hoping that, when he was briefed in the probe, he was given information so damning that when it ultimately is disclosed what he knew and when he knew it, he will be shown to have been just as scurrilous and untrustworthy as his reputation suggests.
