more Ashcroft insanity
from atrios, quoting Ashcroft's resignation letter:

All Secure!

Wow! I had no idea that John Ashcroft wasn't just an Attorney General, he's like a total Super Duper Attorney General! He's put an end to all crime and terrorism! WOW!

"The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved."

Could Ashcroft be more arrogant or out of touch?

2. LMAO. OMFG... he's serious?
I guess after he draped the statue with a curtain and ripped into some 12 year olds for copyright infringement, he's all done now.

I shudder at thinking who bush will nominate to replace ashcroft. Maybe Scalia can do TWO jobs!! Why not? More twisted things have happened under bush.

3. Well, then. I guess we can disband the Ministry of Fatherland Security
and the FBI and the CIA and the DEA and all the local police departments, and we can dispense with the color-coded Terra Lerts and we can stop worrying about Osama Bin Laden. Everything is fine now. So... why are we still in Iraq?

4. Could Ashcroft be more arrogant or out of touch?
Yes. but I am at a loss to explain how.
I am not going to miss him, but all the same I fear for our civil rights when I think of how some one worse would be offered the job.

How about Wolfowitz ?

5. Hey, he put Tommy Chong's ass in jail! Everybody is safe now!
Of course, something like 5000-6000 terrorist suspects rounded up after 9-11 and, hmm, oh yeah, ZIP convictions.

And 95% of the cargo containers coming into US ports STILL not inspected.

But a middle aged comedian/bong salesman is in jail!

8. That traitor knows how to get out while the gettin' is good!
Maybe he'll be livin' in Saudi Arabia before we can throw him in jail for treason!

I'm sure the Bin Ladin family could find a couch for him to sleep on, in some heavily protected compound where only Bushes dare to tread!

12. He overlooks the glaring contradiction that he and the insidious
administration that he previously worked for (which is still, coinicidentally in power) are largely responsible for the continuing crime and terror that we currently face and will continue to face as a result of their misguided policies.

What a bloated turdstool he is.

Well then we know he was the one in charge of 911 if he's so sure we're all totally secure. WTF
