DU-ers are like Mensans
The joke in Mensa is that organizing Mensans is like herding cats.

I like the fact that We the People on this message board have a lot of different ideas, and continually brainstorm. That's what it seems to me, we are continually thinking and analyzing.

It will be nice to ultimately have a few focused plans. But still at that time I hope that we continue to discuss and argue and think.

Oh yeah, and the other way we are like Mensans is that we are SMART!!

:toast:

13. I have a nephew that is a friggin genius --
I have tried to explain to him and to his mother, that being a genius is a handicap of sorts. The genius does have a disability, their minds work different from the average joes and they cannot understand why the average joe does not comprehend what it is they comprehend.

What is logical and simple to a genius often cannot be grasped by the average joe, so the genius is living with a disadvantage, they find it hard to relate and to communicate with average minds.

5. I think there must be a lot of right wingers in that org
If the internet is any indication. I've seen a lot of "I'm a member of MENSA..." as part of right wing screeds.

7. Now hold on just a doggoned minute!
The only Mensa-recognized, members only bulletin board has about 100 active members at any one time and over the past three years there have been probably a grand total of fifteen conservatives, with three of them displaying neoconite behavior and only one of those a proven freeper.
I think the statistics speak for themselves. Mensa is very blue. Liberals are without a doubt more intelligent.

Incidentally, the dude who accidentally outed himself as a freeper posted a cut-and-paste from freeprepublic, and all the posters e-mail addresses showed! :D
It was in a forum I moderated so I deleted out the addresses and PM'ed him that he shouldn't paste from there when he's logged in because it shows e-mails. He thanked me for the courtesy and said he'd be careful about that in the future. From then on I took great pleasure in posting one idiocy after another from freeperland on the mensa board to point out the lunacy of the right, and adding of course "...but don't ask me, ask him...he's a member!"
Most fun I've ever had with my clothes on. :D

8. I was making fun of freeper types.
My statement was tongue in cheek. Just because they SAY they're members of Mensa doesn't mean they are ;) It just always makes me chuckle when they say that in a lame attempt to back up their points.

11. I know you were joshin'!
Just from the spelling, the grammar and above all else the complete lack of reason anyone can tell a freeper board from a liberal board at a glance. :D
They credit liberal smarts to "liberal professors". Bwaaahahaha!
Wonder what happened to all the freeper professors?

Didn't want you to think I was hatin' on Mensa. I actually don't know that much about them, other than I think you have to have a certain IQ or above to join.

18. That's it, and nothing more. Just a good day at the SAT's, or whatnot.
The wise person to fool ratio is the same as the general population.

9. I haven't gone to a Mensa event in a while...
BUt I think you are right.

The other thing - Mensans are very (what word should I use) "innovative," "expressive" about their sexuality. So I doubt they would be taken in by the religious nutjobs.

10. I had a neighbor who kept saying that.
He even had the license plate frame announcing he was a member of Mensa.

Well . . . that man was the most socially ignorant person I'd ever met who harrassed many of us and finally ended up stabbing another neighbor who is a 60-year-old grandfather.

Later we found out he also robbed a bank in 1997.

Mensa, Smensa. Lotta good all those brain cells did him.

16. I actually bought a mensa bumpersticker two months ago...
Across the back of my car was "Veteran for Kerry-Edwards", then "MENSA", then "DemocraticUnderground.com".
It was a "Whatcha gonna call me now?" tableau. I loved catching redlights in town so the folks stuck behind me could "dialogue".

"Why, Earlene, there's one o' them liberal idjits!"
"Well, no...what's that other one say, Bubba?"
"Must be a durned commy, then!"
"But don't that-un say 'veteran', Bubba?"
"Shut up, Earlene...light's green...I gotta consecrate on m'drivin' now!"
