Going on from here
It is time for the left to get together, find a message and get on it. We can no longer afford the fragmented self-centeredness of "my liberal group's cause is more important than your liberal group's cause" or "you don't meet my test of what makes a liberal or a leftist or a whatever, so I'm not going to have anything to do with you." We can afford ideological purity.

The right has succeeded because they have been willing to compromise with each other. Unless the left can begin to build consensus in a healthy way and find a message that motivates us, then we will have lost our voice. I'm more and more convinced that we keep shooting ourselves in the foot. Pretty soon, you end up with nothing but a foot full of holes, and that's a hard way to make a stand.
