The smaller the state the better. Montana voted for Clinton in '96. They could get a Democratic Senator as could other states. Do it now before the 2006 Election. Send your liberal kids to red state colleges. They can make sure the College Democrats are active there.

1. I live in a hell hole red state
with Fundies all over the place who hate me just because of the way I sound. I'm going to get my red house in order to move myself and my blue family up to a blue state.

You have to live here to understand the hate.

4. Good suggestion
Having lived in two reds, VA & TX, and two blues, NY and presently MN, I think it's time to go WEST. I'm thinking possibly NM or CO. I've been yearhing for this for a few years now for various reasons...the main one being that the Colorado Plateau is going to be a prime area to harness solar power in the future.

Minnesota is pretty liberal around the Twin Cities, but the people up here are neurotic...I think it's the sunless winters...and they seem to thrive on others' sympathy too much. I'm not knocking them; they just aren't MY kind of people. Self-assurance isn't a highly regarded personal trait up here.

5. Sorry but wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy at this point
My daughter is attending UC Berkeley and the only thing that kept her upbeat through this debacle was knowing that the majority of her fellow students are like minded. I would not put her through the torment of a red state school. Living through four more years of BUSH is going to be tough enough!

6. just the opposite...
progressives must begin to abandon red states in favor of blue and begin dominating local governments. we must empower local government; we must create regional pockets of resistance.
